:worried::worried::worried::worried::worried::rolleyes2We checked in Tuesdat 5/12 at 8:30 pm. We are senior citizens and requested a room on an upper floor. We were put in Moorea 1040 which is the 2 nd to last room in the building down by the TTT and Ferry boat. I'm 70 and my hubby is 75!
We do walk, but very hard to walk to the Grat Ceremonial House from this room. We wound up taking the monorail fro the TTC to go eat and go to the pool.
Last night when we didn't receive our packet for our cruise today 5/15, I called the front desk. The man who brought our cruise info to us told us we were supposed to be in room 3805 in a building closer to the main building. Why would Dis move us if they knew we were on the cruise, just because someone else got there before us. I would not have complained until I found out where we were supposed to be! I'm almost ready to ask for a handicapped room, we both have bad knees and had injections in them before this trip so we could walk. I don't think its right to use a handicapped room when we really aren't handicapped.
Any ideas with our late check ins on how to avoid this happening again?

When you make a room request, note it for medical reasons. During the day as people request different rooms, they have to come from somewhere and since you weren't checked in yet, they probably gave your original room to someone else.

WDW is nothing but walking so the CM probably didn't know to keep you close to the main building. Have you considered getting ECV's for use while at WDW? Using an ECV will let you enjoy your stay, allow you to do more, and keep you from getting sore knees.

Thanks Bill,
We aren't readyfor scooters yet, just walk slow. I will remember to ask for a room close to the main building for medical reasons. We weren't going to complain until we found out where we were supposed to be.

At home you may not need an ECV but at WDW you have to walk for miles, it's a different animal. Putting such pressure on your joints can only make things worse, not better.

Due to a medical condition I had a few years of ambulatory issues and I refused to use an ECV at WDW. I finally gave in to DW and rented one for a few vacations, then I bought one just for WDW use. While not fun, it allowed me to visit the parks and other areas for a longer period and my independence allowed my family to better enjoy Disney.

Ok Bill,
I think you've convinced me! We'll try one on our next trip here when we are staying on site.
Sometimes we rent off site for the winter, and just go slow. We buy annual passes and spend 2-4 hours in a park about 3 days a week, but usually spend 7-11 days on site before we move off site!
Next time Scooters R Us! Don't really like getting old!
Now, I'll summarize, to see ifI got it right request room close to main building for medical reasons and rent scooter! Got it, and thank you!

Have a wonderful rest of vacation and if you need some ECV tips, just PM me when you are ready.

I'm confused. Did you book a DVC villa using points? Or did you make a cash reservation?

Currently, there are only two longhouses at the Poly that have DVC villas: Moorea and Pago Pago. If you booked a DVC villa, then you would have been assigned to a villa in either of those two longhouses. Pago Pago is a bit closer to the Great Ceremonial House than Moorea, but not by much.

There is no DVC villa at the Poly with a room number of 3805. If you were suppose to be in room 3805 in a longhouse closer to the Great Ceremonial House, then it sounds like you had a cash reservation rather than a DVC villa.

Like I say, I'm confused.

Checking Tikiman's site, room 3805 would be on the third floor of the Rarotonga building, the building right next to the Great Ceremonial House. So yes, that would have been a very close room to the main building. That room is a regular hotel room, however, not a DVC villa, so I'm guessing you booked a regular hotel room? If you did, then it sounds like maybe something was wrong with your original room or they had to give it away, and put you in the DVC villa building instead. Which cash-wise is actually an upgrade, since those units cost more with the cash rates than the hotel rooms generally, although that probably doesn't make up for being farther away from the main building, which was important to you, sorry.

Another poster's idea of putting medical reasons on the request is a good idea. Although this might have been just one of those things that happens, like they couldn't assign that room to you at the last minute for whatever reason, and didn't have anything else available besides Moorea. This sounds likely if they didn't put you into another hotel room and had to put you in the villas, sounds like they were pretty full and something happened unexpectedly. You can always ask if they can move you after you check in, just in case they do have something else.
