How is late August? From about the 26 - Sept 1st? Would be leaving before Labor Day, hoping crowds die down a bit since schools down south go back earlier than us in NJ. I would prefer to go in Sept, but the holidays are falling on the weekend, so no mid-week days off. I'm figuring since I'm DVC now and this would be 3rd trip in a year and a half, I won't need to go commando in the parks, can do the shows, hit the pool, downtown disney, etc. :wizard: What do you think? Or am I crazy and it will be a mob scene? :confused3 Thanks for your help! :grouphug:

Last August we went for 2 weeks with a noticeable difference in the crowds on the second week ( alot less of them ) so with going only 10 days next summer we're going the 23 to the 1st

PS
please don't tell anyone , or it will just get crowded <G> :rotfl2:

I hate to burst your bubble but there is a trend in certain states to pass laws requiring schools to start after Labor Day. Michigan's went into effect this school year(guess Boyne & the northern golf resorts were loosing business). And being an hour from Cedar Point here in Ohio, they are lobbying for a state law here.

Our district has started the week before Labor Day, since we had the Blizzard in 1978.

We went this past August, same dates that you said (week before labor day).. and I thought it was very reasonable.. I don't remember any waits >25-30 min at the most. We did many things back-to-back (like Buzz lightyear 3 times in a row)

It's hot though, of course.. so it's a little rougher if you have little ones. Being at DVC, we just went in the morning, played, then went back to the room for a while, then went out again.. worked well.

Last week in August is a great time to go---SHHHH!!!!

We've been two years in a row now. :sunny:

thank you all for the good news. :sunny: i feel the excitement starting. pretty soon i'll have a trip countdown to stare at the next 9 months, LOL :cool1:

We were there late Aug this year and I thought the crowds were quite reasonable. The parks were certainly not wide open but not overcrowded. We went the week before our kids returned to school and what was great was that we didn't think about back-to-school at all. We were completely transported into a different world and it was very refreshing.

We booked again for same time this year.

PS. I LOVE you contented kitties picture! Siamese? Burmese? Russion Blue? Do tell!

I totally agree with the other posters-shhhh! I have been at Disney the past 3 years during that time frame and love it! The crowds are considerably thinner that last week and with DVC we have taken to spending long, lazy end-of-summer days relaxing by the beautiful pools rather than doing any commando park drills. I think you will enjoy it.

It looks like we already have an end of August thread starting too :) I'm not sure where we will be staying but it's a toss up now between OKW (loved it last year), SSR (love it after a recent stay/love the DTD walk), and BCV (stayed there last August and loved Stormalong Bay). The week before we booked free dining with a Port Orleans stay.

Since we live pretty close to each other (I'm exit 5 on the Turnpike) I think you'll enjoy that week. This is our favorite week to go. First the parks are still open late so you're right, you can slow down a bit. We some times go to a water park during the hottest part of the day (and it is hades hot! but hey, it's pretty darn hot in NJ in August too) and then come "home" relax and hit a theme park in the early evening. There is some thing really great seeing Illuminations on a summer evening. Last year we went the last 11 days in August (from the 21st -9/1) and we rarely had more than a 20 minute wait on any major attraction. When we went to ride EE in AK, they did not even have the fast pass machine on because the standby line was only 10 minute. We're set for a short 5 dayer 8/27/07. :yay: Hope you join us!
