We probably won't be getting dropped off at SSR (towncar with our luggage) until midnight or so. We've always checked-in early in the day in the past. Will we have any problem getting our luggage delivered to our room that night? Do we have a good chance of getting a decent one-bedroom that late on a Wednesday night? We're heading down mid-April. Thanks in advance!

I believe Bell Services is only open until 1am. But on the bright side, you won't have any line at check-in. Usually there's just 1 or 2 CMs working the desk after hours. And Bell Services have been known to ferry guests and their luggage in their golf carts from check-in to room. Since you see them on the way to check-in, I'd check with them first about a lift.

As far as room choice, I fear that's the luck of the draw by that hour. You're pretty much going to get what was assigned for you earlier and not bargained for by an early check-in guest. Did you put your room requests in?

Make sure you call the resort a day or so before you arrive and let them know you will be arriving late.

I think BroganMc has it right. Except I don't know if a room request is going to survive through an entire day unless it is HA or for medical reasons.

Probably not, but its better than nothing. Hopefully it will all work out for the OP. I've seen many guests arrive late (I'm always popping in to the Carriage House after hours if I want to tell the Front Desk staff something... their far less busy then) and still get rooms in areas they liked. But then there have been those who get the parking lot view or further section.

Thanks much for all your suggestions! We've always landed at The Springs on prior trips so I'm hoping we get a different section this time. I get the "parking lot view" :( but what's the "further section" mentioned? Congress Park, Paddock, Carousel?

Any of the above, depending on your point of view. For me Congress Park is far out there because I like going to HRS pool and Artist Palette a lot. Carousel is usually the last place people want to stay, but I like it's serene little lake. And Paddocks has some buildings closer to Congress Park than even its own bus stop and pool. But again it has some of the prettiest lakes.

I think Carousel ends up being the least requested section though. Most requested is probably a tie between Springs, Congress Park and Grandstand.

If you're used to staying at Springs and want something different, I think I'd request Grandstand or Paddocks. One of them should come through for you. Most likely Paddocks since it has the most buildings.

The trouble is you're arriving on a Wed, smack dab in the middle of most DVC vacations. If you were coming Friday night you'd probably have a lot more to chose from.

I checked into SSR at around 2 am this past January. We were able to get our room request which was DTD view. Bell Services took us and our luggage to our room in a van. We had to wait about 10 minutes for them to arrive.

You're probably right, but a small price to pay for the $$$ we're saving on airfare with a Wednesday flight!! Appreciate the tips. I'll be calling to put in my room requests!

Thanks for your input, robnkris...I was flipping through all the papers I saved from our last trip and it says that luggage service is available 24/7, so it looks like we'll be okay. Where did you end up with a DTD room request?
