Has anyone ever checked in late due to late flight and been really disappointed with room assignment? We arrive late on the 18th of Dec., and I am nervous that we will not get a "good" room. It is our 10th Anniversary/belated Honeymoon. We have never stayed onsite, and I managed to convince my DH to stay this one time. I just don't want him to be disappointed and think badly about the place I am crazy about. He is not such a Disney nut, just married to one.

where are u staying? I would call the day before or so and let them know about your special occasion and your concerns about the late check in. really let them hear your heart! Disney has a great track record for making special occasions very magical! good luck and keep us posted!!! and Congrats on your anniversary!!!!!!!!!!

HI

As you probably know, request for certain rooms are requests only, unless you have a medical situation, or paid for an upgrade. If you know what to expect at your hotel from all the information on these boards, then you won't be dissappointed.

You are going during the busiest time of the year, so depending on what you want, you may have to be flexible. I don't know if you will be able to change rooms if you get one you don't like, because of it being busy, but you can always ask.

If it's a real worry to you, then you might want to see about changing your travel times.

And you might warn your husband of the heavy crowds.

It will be busy, but you are going at one of the most beautiful times, the holidays.

Have fun
Susan

We went to WDW for our Honeymoon in Dec. We did not arrive until 7pm on the day of check in. We got the room we wanted but we called at 3pm while we were driving and told them when we thought we would be there and reminded them we were on out honeymoon. Actually they reminded us. Anyway so I would called around 3 on checkin day

My DH and I went to WDW last Dec around the 18th. We did not arrive until 1:00 am. We were given a handicapped room meaning we had a king bed which was fine with us. The bathroom did not have a tub, we just had to be careful with the walk in shower and trying to keep the floor dry. The view was actually an upgrade from the woods view booked. Our room was a courtyard view at WL. My DH was disappointed because he wanted a view of MK, but they were of course booked and unable to move us.

We had a late check in at the CR once. I even called and let them know that we wouldn't be arriving until 11:00 pm. We had put a deposit down on a tower club room, and upon check in they had none available. I spoke with the manager, who was very nice and understanding. She put us on another floor, but gave us 14th floor concierge priviliges for the whole length of our stay - and the second night we moved up to tower club, but the whole stay was charged at the regular tower price!! What a deal!

I would definitely call and speak to either CRO or the hotel - probably the hotel. Explain your situation. If things don't work out at check-in, keep in mind there are other options available if you deal with the right person!

Our late check in worked out great for us!! It was a busy season also, spring break. You never know!:earsgirl:

Good luck!!

We checked in so late one night that the computers in the lobby were off. It was like 130 in the morning (this was our Honeymoon)
But we had a plan! We stayed in Port Orleans that 1st night, then scurried over to the Boardwalk and checked in early, early for our other 7 nights. Our rpom was directly over the Spoodles sign!
We still do this...first night at FW Cabins then over to YC early to check in the next morning.

Thanks for all the advice. I know that a request is just that, so I think I will take my cell phone and call ahead on the day of. We went last year at this time, and we found the parks not that crowded. Of course we only had summer to compare it to. The 25th was when the waves and waves of people showed up. Parks were closed early due to capacity, etc. The days before were not that bad. We watched an evening parade on the 24th with maybe 50 people in our view up and down. Streets were empty. Best parade view ever. We were glad to be leaving just a few days after Christmas though. I would never go to Disney during that Christmas week through New Years. We will be there the 18th to 23rd. Hope to miss the "waves" again. Thanks for all the help. I will post an update.

I booked a late flight out of Boston so that we wouldn't miss an extra day of work and school. We won't be arriving at MCO until 10:30pm. Originally I had booked that night at the airport hotel because of the same concerns. I did recently change it though and we're going directly to the YC. I was more concerned that our room wouldn't be ready until 3pm if I chose to wait until the following morning for check in. I've had them note a late arrival on my reservation and we'll hope for the best.

we have checked in late at the ASMovies and got exactly what we asked for. YOu would be surprised at the line and it was nearly midnight!!!:wave2:

We're coming in late for our stay at AKL so we decided to just grab a room near the airport for the night (got a great deal on a 4* through hotwire). I just couldn't see paying the high price for a night at AKL when we'd be so tired we'd just go to sleep when we got there anyway. My hope is that we'll have a better chance to have our room request fulfilled the next day since we'll be checking in early.
