Late arrival at Sheraton Vistana Resort--how not to get the shaft?

We will be arriving at Sheraton Vistana Resort late (approx. 10:30 p.m.) on Saturday, Aug. 9. We are taking advantage of an offer from Starwood Vacations as SPG members. Does that impact in any way how our reservation will be treated--to the positive or negative?

We are slated for a 2BR Villa. How do we avoid getting the Saturday not so desirable "left overs?" Is there any way? Or does our arrival time mean we will get the dingy room next to the night manager?

How/which section can/should we request? When can we do it?

If you are exchanging from RCI, most likely you will get the dumpy section.
I would recommend staying somewhere else. MY experience was so horrible RCI gave me back all my points from this stay.

call them that morning or afternoon and tell them you are arriving at 10:30pm.

or you can call the day before.

there is a form you can fill out and see what happens.

but they are given II exchanges the newer resorts - Cascades, Lakes, fountains - and everything else goes to RCI.

would ask for Cascades or Lakes (get one that has been rehabbed).

Understanding that owners at VR and other Starwood owners will get their preferences first, your attitude with the front desk and/or who you contact by phone will go a long way in getting your requests met.

Best of luck to you. If there is a trick, I don't know it. We had a late Saturday arrival and were given a disgusting 2BR Villa, so disgusting, we had to leave.

We recently returned from a stay at Vistana Resorts. While we did not check in late, we did arrange the stay through an RCI exchange.

As previously mentioned, definitely do the Diamond Check-In and put down any special request (location ex. near pool, floor of building if that matters - some do not have elevators). I put down that we wanted on the first floor near the pool and activity center and that is exactly what we got!! With the Diamond Check-In we were also able to check-in in less than 5 minutes.

We stayed in the Springs section which is an older section that has not yet been refurbished. Prior to the trip, I was dreading the accomodations from what I read on this and other sites. I have to say that are accomodations, while not super luxurious, were very clean, bug-free, and the location was convenient to everything.

The Sheraton grounds are very well kept and anything we needed was just a call away. We had two issues for maintenance to address while we were there (one was my fault!) and both times they were promptly fixed.

I would definitely stay there again!

We did two week RCI exchanges. We got a falls unit for the first week and a newly redone room in the Lakes for the second week. I was extremely pleasant to the reservationist. I simply told her that we always get the "older units" when we exchange into the Sheraton and could she do her best to find us a newly refurbished unit. This was a week before check in. She was happy to do it. However, to be honest we preferred the location of the older unit and was much happier in it. The pool was so much closer and it was less built up (much quieter in the older units). Both units were very clean and we had a fantastic time. This was in May of this year!

What is this "coupon" to which only one per IP address is allowed?
We are staying at Vistana in Oct. Is this coupon something I would find useful?
