Well, here I am at week one. What a week. I have learned a lot and feel that I have accomplished quite a bit.

First off, I am 3 pounds lighter than last week. This includes a visit from the everloving bloat fairy..so life is good!!!

I am learning about weight loss. At this point, I have learned to accept things 10% at a time. Right now, 100 pounds or better is not attainable...but 26 is. I am hoping to be 30 lighter by Mother's day...and I have the challenge to help me with that!! Yeah!

I am learning about rewards. Not everything NEEDS to revolve around food. Yes, I do reward my workout time with a Skinny Cow..it is a treat...but one I plan for!!! This is truely a learning experiance. And I have been true to myself with this..no workout, no Skinny Cow. Unfortunately, today was a Skinny Cowless day.

SkinnyCowless days are not good!!! I will have to keep that in mind! But, on the other hand, today was a HUGE stress day. A day where I could have easily fallen into poor eating habits. And I didn't!! Yeah me!!! Yes, I did have some "comfort" food...if you call soup comfort food...but I used my points appropiately and now my points are gone....and so I will eat again at breakfast. Truth be told, I am not really even hungry!!!

Food shopping!! I am learning!!! It is really easy to not eat what you do not have to eat. Yes, Healthy Choice cookies are really yummy as are pretzels, but do I really need them? Living a week without them and surviving I am finding out I do not need some things. Now if you mess with my Skinny Cows, I might have a fight..I enjoy those and earn those....just working on cutting out the fluff. Yes, even in Healthy Choices, there is unnecisary fluff I can live without...Another lesson learned!

I also learned how to fight with the scale this morning!! But I won and did lose my 3 pounds for the week...Of course I have to pee several times to acheive this...and had to take off my socks even though my feet were freezing!!

Things to look forward to, yes, Iam looking forward to this...I just have to remind myself....

Ankle surgery will behind me at some point....am I scared, yes, hopeful? possibly, defeated..HELL NO!!! Just a little speed bump in my journey. This too shall pass!! Keep reminding self of that!! I can hope to be walking like a normal person on the next trip to Disney!!!! And hopefully can look forward to a seatbelt extenderless flight!! Ah yes, long term goals!!!!

Onward and downward. Week one down and a lifetime to go!!

I can do this, just not alone!!!!

Liz,

Let me be the first to welcome you. I will introduce myself as the Only Fat Guy in America...at least it seems that way as I am the only one who posts on here:wave:

Congratulations on your new goals and believe me I will leave the skinny cows alone...I prefer the fat ones on my dinner plate as I am on Atkins!

What is your plan you are working? You will be overwhelmed by the response you are about to recieve from the wonderful folks here!

Later!

TOFGIA!

Dax (Your southern neighbor in Kentucky!)

It is much appreciated!! I am sure you are not the only fat guy in America, but I totally understand what you are saying. I have felt that way too...well not quite like I am the only fat guy in America...but the only fat chick in America.....but hey, we are not alone!!!!

Oh, they do have Skinny Carb bars...but DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT go there!! They are nasty!! They leave the worst film ever imaginable in your mouth and do not melt...even when left in the kitchen sink overnight!!! Now Bryers Lo Carb Chocolate was a favorite when doing Atkins....that one I would highly reccomend!!!

I have just completed week one of my new lifestyle called Weight Watchers!!! Onward and downward!! Again, thanks for the encouragement!! It is much appreciated!!!

I'll be sure to leave them alone. I tried the Atkins sour creme and onion chips...OMG...literally I can eat anything, but I could not eat more than about 5. I kept expecting them to get better the more I consumed, but they didn't!

LATER,

TOFGIA!

Dax

LizDotCom- I started my journal yesterday- I like your
attitude - Keep up the good work
we're all routing for ya!
PS: I cracked up when you said you take off the socks before weigh in- I will never step on the scale unless it is the first thing in the am and I am buck naked:earseek: - I'm a nut

Welcome to the wonderful world of journaling!

hey liz, i'd like to also welcome you to journaling, and congratulate you on your 3 pound loss :bounce:

hope you stick around and have a great journaling experience :teeth:

Thanks for the very warm welcome!! I planned on using this a a place to put my thoughts, fears, frustrations and successes. I didn't really think others would read them, much less reply....so for all who have replied, thanks for your encouragement.

Today is a bit of a struggle for me, as yesterday I learned that I will be having another ankle surgery. This will make #8 over the course of the past 7 years. This is going to be a huge surgery with a huge recovery and a lot of time in bed!! Argghh!! Just as I find my motivation to exercise.........alas there is this.

On the good side of things, despite my dissapointment with the new outlook of surgety, I did get my butt up and earn my Skinny Cow today. One mile with WATP with weights is still doable with my ankle. So, I guess I better get it in while I still can. And as you know, my love for Skinny Cow bars has not dimished....so I am glad to say, I have done my exercise...I will enjoy my treat later!!!!!

On that note, off to take care of some other things.....I will be back tomorrow!!!! And working upward and downward today!!!!

:wave2:

Liz, welcome to the WISH Journal board!!

I figure with your ankle out of commission for a while, you'll have time to develop some very buff arm muscles with some hand weights!! :p No reason to skip exercise altogether - you MUST keep earning those Skinny Cows!! ::yes::

Your positive attitude is lookin' good and congratulations on 3, count 'em, :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc 3 pounds gone forever!! Buh-bye pounds!! :wave2:

Keep going, Liz!! :sunny:

and I had no desire to exercise today!!! Thanks to Tiggerlover for posting her exercise thread!!!! Today is a hohummer!! Happy aobut staying with my eating program...but struggling with emotional things with my stupid ankle. With all that is said and done though, I need to realize the old me would be eating up a storm....and I am NOT doing that now!!! Although some Peeps really do sound good....but I know I can NOT stop at one serving! SO for now, none is better than some!!!!

Off to shower now. I do feel better knowing that I worked out....and that I get my Skinny Cow!!!

:wave2: Hi there Liz,
Welcome to journaling. It's too funny that I came accross your journal today because my MIL was just raving about Skinny Cows to me yesterday. I believe it's an ice cream treat, Wilderness :D .

Congrats on that 3 pound loss. That is awesome ::yes:: ! Sorry to hear about your surgery but just think about how much easier it will be to exercise once it is healed and feeling better.

Hope you enjoy your exercise reward tonight :sunny: !

2 point frozen fudge bar!!!! I love them!!!! Can ya tell?

Vald, I am hoping the ankle will get better!! :earseek: So far that has been the point of the past 7 sugeries.....but alas, i degress!!! Yes, it must get better this time!!!

Doe, you made me laugh!! Thanks....but I am not sure I will ever have buuf arms...but it is a thought!! Thanks for the encouragement!!

Thanks to all for all your words of encouragement! It is much appreciated!!!

:wave2:

Okay, Liz, I made it here to your journal....finally.

First off congratulations to you for losing 3 pounds! That is a great start!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I know you are dreading more ankle surgery, I would be dreading it too. But you have to keep a positive head about it so that is will not defeat you. You need to start getting yourself ready now for all that bed time, start a new hobby, maybe cross stitching or crocheting or something....something you can do with your hands while you are laid up, something other than turning to food. What about scrapbooking? You can get all the supplies together, get your pictures ready and then when you are couch bound you can start working on a beautiful project. It will take a lot of strength and a lot of support from your buddies to be a success, but you can be successful!!

For now keep up the great work, keep up the exercise and good eating and you will be on your way onward and downward.

You really DON'T want to see me try to crochet!! It is not pretty!! I may have to catch up on all of the Disney Classic movies I have never seen!!! And there are A LOT of them!!!! I can't scrap in bed...I have tried it...but cross stich is a great idea!!!! Thanks for the suggestions.

Good thing aboust sugery is, if you want to eat you have to be able to carry it on crutches or throw it....and getting to the kitchen is never much fun either!!:teeth: So, eating poorly after the surgery is not too bad...it is waiting for the surgery to happen (like now) that I usually stress eat!! NOT THIS TIME!!!!

I also get my Skinny Cow today!! Yes, I did my WATP 1 mile today. Forgot to get a couple of cans out of the pantry for weights, so Beanie Babies had to do! Boy did I look silly. It was a good thing only the dog saw!!!

Well, I have lots of points to eat today, as I have been so busy and left the house without breakfast and had a Subway Salad for lunch. The new Chicken Medeterrian is only 1.2 points for the salad and a low fat brownie only 3 points....not a bad 4 .2 point lunch!!

Off to figure out some more stuff....gotta pseudo job compliments of Greg's boss to keep me busy before this surgery. That always helps. I miss my physical therapy as that was also my social time..so working again feels good even if it is for a shirt time.

It feels great to be working out!!!! Thanks again to all for the encouragement!! It is much appreciated!!!

::yes::

Cross stitch is a great way to stay out of the food. I just started one for my sister, You have to keep your hands clean, so no pm munching for me. You are doing a great job keeping on program. also amazing job keeping a positive attitude.

Keep up the good work
:sunny:

lo carb bar which tastes like well...um...yuck!! Don't even go there. I had one in the sink overninght and it didn't even melt and left a very funky film in my mouth!! But if yu are looking for a great lo carb ice cream...Breyers has a great lo carb chocolate out and I believe Eskimo has a great lo carb chocolate coated canilla ice cream bar out!!!

I haven't tried the lo carb chocolate option of the skinny cow...don't thin I would after trying the butter pecan one though...if you do, let me know how it is!!!
:teeth:

How low carb is the ice cream you are talking about, just wondering.

Just a quick note to let you know that Doe found two other guys on here so I am no longer TOFGIA, I will go by 1 of 3 now.

Have a great weekend!

Bryers Carb Smart is 4 grams ofr a 1/2 cup serving....DH also found a new one tonight called Carb Solutions which is chocolate peanut butter for 2 carbs per 1/2 cup serving. Botha re very good and Bryers was just on sale here BOGO....the Bryers Strawberry is not too bad either...I am just a purist and I think it has a bit of a fake taste...kind like Quick Strawberry milk...but again, DH likes it a lot!!! If ya try the ice cream, lte me know what ya think!!! Glad to hear you are not TOFGIA, glad to hear you are now 1 of 3!!!!!:earseek:
