Last year for MK garland across Main Street?

Rumor has it the new daytime parade floats will be too tall to go under the Christmas garland across Main Street so they are not sure how they will decorate next Christmas season. Glad I took extra pictures this year.

The floats don't have to be that high. Remember those lights that were taken down in EPCOT because something broke? Kind of makes you have doubts.

I can remember when Disney had a lot more decoration up. It was overload decorations. Year by year they would cut back.

I'm getting to the point that I'm counting the horses on the carousel at the beach club. There may be one less each year.

The display at Boardwalk was huge, as the one at the yacht Club. The display at Boma completely disappeared several years ago.

The display at Beach Club had a village along with the carousel.

I'm more in the camp of the bean counters at work.

Guess you will have to see what the parade floats are like and if its worth it for them to be tall.

Either way, the economy sucks, companies are having a harder time to make a profit. They cut corners where they think is the best.

Except that Disney continues to make a profit, quarter after quarter, year after year. Not just a profit, but significant profits even with the economy the way it has been. With a track record like that, it's rather questionable the need to make cuts such as has been mentioned. Kind of makes people a little cynical of their motivations.

The parade floats for the new Flight of Fantasy parade will be taller than any other floats at MK. I heard rumor a few months ago where changes were being made backstage at the float maintenance facility to accommodate the new floats.

I'd prefer pretty garlands all day and night over parade floats that are taller, but that's just me.

since the decorations are stored and used from year to year, there wouldn.t be any cost savings to not putting them up. Of course it would save money on having to replace them. That's why the tinsel garland never went back up in the studios after the parade was cancelled there. The tinsel was in pretty bad shape and they decided to not spend the money to replace it, actually I am glad for that one because I alwasys thought those garlands were tacky. I do wish that epcot would redo the lights of winter or have something like it as well as bring back the tree lighting show.

Try finding any Christmas decorations in MK outside of the camera shot for the Kelly & Michael special ('Jingle Cruise' is a joke and doesn't count). Every year there are fewer and fewer decorations at both the parks and the resorts. Very sad

Not much point in us visiting WDW between Thanksgiving and Christmas if the decorations keep disappearing.

Im not too concerned about the garland, we were there, and at MVMCP the day of the Christmas day parade performances & parade itself being taped and I honestly didnt even notice the garland was missing til halfway through.

I havent noticed a lack in decorations around wdw resort either, but that may just be me, muh more into Halloween! Baha!

1) Now, now now.
2) We need to refrain from thoughts and statements like these.
3) It makes Ogre (I mean Iger) sound
. . . money grubbing
. . . selfish
. . . profit-center regardless of guest enjoyment
. . . swinish
. . . rapacious
. . . piggish
. . . greedy
4) And, none of us think of Ogre's corporate mindset as this.

We were at MK the first week of December and the garland was up. Went back the day before parade taping and it had been removed for camera shots. Made comment to wife about the change as she did not notice. Hope the garland stays as it is tradition at Christmas visits for me.
