I am looking to go to WDW the last week of September? Am I crazy to hope the weather will be good? Will I still be in fear of hurricane season? Will one week later make a difference?

Thanks.

Hurricane Jeanne hit Florida on Sep. 25 last year so, yes you would definately be in hurricane season -- it runs until December. Ask me this October and I'll tell you if waiting a week would make a difference. ;)

We were there from September 17-26  well, er, the 25th because of hurricane Jeanne this past year. The weather was good, otherwise. A little warmer than we are used to, because we always go in January. We had to leave a day early because of the hurricane, and had to drive to Tampa to get a flight out in time. Hurricane season is long. Isn't it from May through November or something like that? Even with this being a heck of a hurricane season, I'm sure that there were many weeks that the weather was fine in between the storms during those many months. It's really hit or miss I would guess. So, good luck in your planning process. (and of course January is always good too, very cool weather, but no hurricanes on the horizon) The thing then is trying to get flights in and out of the snowy weather at home!!!!

I'm in the exact same situation. The last week of September works best for us time-wise, so I'm eagerly watching this thread!!!

It is during Hurricane season, but that runs about 6 months of the year. Last year was a very strong Hurricane year, and it was historic. We managed to have great luck on our vacation and stayed the 15th through the 25th with no rain other than on day of light on/off showers, we literally arrived and left between Hurricanes. It was so wonderful with the low crowds that we will be there again this year at that time! Good Luck!

We too went to Disney last September (16-20) -- when Ivan hit the panhandle. We had GREAT weather -- it didn't rain at all expcept on our last day and we were headed for the airport anyway.

If you make plans and a storm hits, just keep checking with the airlines (if you're flying) and with whichever resort you are staying in. We were planning on staying at the Shades of Green and they were very helpful as far as saying that they would not charge us if we couldn't make it. Luckily we did. We didn't, however, tell the kids what our plans were until we were on our way to the airport!!

You can't plan your vacation around the hurricane season -- as stated before, it runs from June 1 (my birthday) until December.

Good luck!! :umbrella:

we're going Sept 25-Oct 1 and I too am hoping for good weather!

We'll see you there!! We are going from Sep 24 - Oct 2!!! And having lived in TX, FL and LA for a total of 18 years, I have learned to live you life during hurricane season and deal with it as they come. Let's just hope that 4 strikes in 2004 will cut FL a break in 2005. :sunny: :sunny:

We were there several years ago - probably about 6 or 7 - at the end of Sept. to early Oct. It was the year that a hurricane hit the Panhandle. We were checking out of Disney that day and knew nothing about it. It was, of course, very windy and raining in Orlando. Other than that, we had a daily rain shower that lasted about 5 or 10 minutes and then cleared right up. The temp was great.

I hope its going to be OK..I'll be there Sept 23 to Oct 1 :sunny:

I went last year in Sept and Oct. Yes it is hurricane season. Yes one hit while I was there in September (Jean). Yessss We had and awesome time. Only missed a night and a day at the parks. The weather otherwise was beautiful. I wish I could go every year at that time very light crowds, still warm weather. But the kids have that School thing going on. Stayed at CBR the pool was not heated for some reason, kind of cool for me to swim in but the kids loved it and the pool was still full. :teeth:

Went back in Oct for MNNSHP, just my DS5 and me. Weather was a little cooler (not much). It rained for 1.5 hours the night we went to MNSSHP. Still loved it. Pool water was still cool for me. Yes I went swimming both times anyway. But again the pools were filled.

Go have a great time and remember when it rains the crowds are even lighter at WDW. ;)

We also enjoyed Hurricane Jeanne last September. It actually hit on the day of our return flight, so we were stuck there! (Imagine our disappointment ;)
We got free passes for the following day because we lost out on our last day of the length-of-stay passes. Two of our flights were cancelled so we left two days later, and had an extra day at the park. We even got a discounted rate at AKL for the extra two nights. :teeth:

We'll be there too, Sept. 25- Oct.2, at the Poly. I figured the later, the better, as far as hurricanes go, so I picked the last week of value season.

NB

Were going the first 2 weeks in September, so I hope it's nice. Three years ago we went that time of year and it rained every single day we were there! Usually only for a few hours in the afternoon, but it still got old. It was warm enough though, so we just pulled out our pnchos and kept going! Did wonders for the crowds, what there were of them.

Last year was very very unique with hurricanes. Hurricane Andrew hit Miami in 1993 and they haven't had another since. The weather is normally great at that time of year. I was there in Sept and Oct of 2003 & 2004 and found that the weather was fantastic. Don't worry about the weather, have a great time.

I love going in late September/early October. We hope for the best. We will be there this year September 17th - 22nd. We are taking my parents who have not been there since 1970 or 1973. My dad is very nervous about the hurracanes. I just keep rememinding them that Mickey is very far inland. So, we have some rain. I think that Disney has only closed it doors 3 times since it opened.
