Hello all - I have been a single mom for the last 8 years and my son and I have gone to the World almost every year in the last couple of years and we love our own little vacation together - well I am getting married in April 2007 and I am planning a last mom and son trip for us in October 2006 and want to make it a trip to remember - my finance really wants to go (never been to the world) but respects that this will be a special time for my son and I. In the past we have stayed at CSprings, Pop Century and locations off the world. We always do disney and now I am thinking about Universal and other Orlando attractions........what do you think

As a single Mom for 25 years and planning my last mother/son trip for next year (he will be getting married). I would stay with the Disney tradition and have a fabulous time.

Congratulations on your engagement. Have you considered a Disney Honeymoon to introduce your new husband to The World?

I've been a single mom for 14 years. DS and I have always stayed on property until last trip, it just wasn't the same. He's not going with me this trip because of college, but when we do our "last trip" together, I'm thinking AKL or Poly.

def stay on property! Make a list of everything HE WANTS to do, and on one day, DO ONLY that!!! tHE OTHER DAYS DO WHATS LEFT,
eNJOY, LET HIM HELP PLAN!!! Wishing u all the best!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Stay on property. It will mean alot to both of you. I was a single mom for 6 years. We went when DS was 5. We are going back this year with DH and DS4. DS now 17 has asked that there be a couple things that he and I do because he remembers doing them together when he was little.

bless your hearts i was a single mom for 6 years just got married last oct. my DDs and i are taking a trip in april just the 3 of us for old times sakes... hope ya have a great trip take lots of photos :grouphug:

I say stay on property and stick with the Disney tradition (I'm big on traditions). Once you get married the three of you can start a new tradition and include universal and what not, but for the last trip keep the tradition, it will mean a lot to your son. Have fun!!

Hi
Def keep that same tradition for you and your son... Have a fabulous time and Congrats on your engagement :thumbsup2

I love this thread. I too, have taken my DS8 to Disney the last 4 years as a single mom. Lucky boy, however, is that he gets to go with him dad as well. We went together this past Easter as his Easter surprise -- loved it, stayed at POP and will be going next Easter and staying at POP and AKL.

My mom and I used to do the "just the girls trip" withme up until I got married. Im so glad that on the last trip we brought my DH. We made some great memories nd still talk about some of the crazy things we did on our last trip just the two of us.

Great Idea!!!!! I am so touched by all of your stories my DS is my world and there is magic in being his Mom! Hats off ladies you deserve all the Pixie Dust to be had!!! I squeeze pennies and they don't sing!! They Cry! That is with 2 incomes and only one child. How wonderful that you have made the time budget and priority to have great joy! Thanks for showing how well it can be done! :worship: Take a bow ladies you have earned it!!!

:woohoo:

I would also stick with the Disney tradition . Then you could do or start a new one with future DH and get in the US/IOA and other stuff.

Disney has become a tradition for our family since 1977 and nothing else can compete. We did a Myrtle Beach twice years ago and decided it just ain't as good as Disney. Now after 38 some visits to WDW, we have never gone off property for anything, not done Universal or SW and have no care to. WDW holds all our hopes and dreams and there is so much to do on property, definitely stay on property, that we see new things every trip. We have our must see and do's and add to that list every visit. Even more, through the years, our daughters marriage, she is a big Disney fan, met her husband while on the college program, married and still want to come on our Disney vacations with us, two old fogies, just the 4 of us enjoying our silver years together has made great memories for me and the missus. It wouldn't be the same without her and now hubby who like Disney just as well. Each trip gets better and better, we're so relaxed there, the many visits has taken the stress out of Disney, we never plan on going anywhere else, its says Disney, and everyone says when and for how long. Great feeling !

Hi there Congrats on your up coming marriage. Before my Mom Married my 'Dad' she and I did not do Disney (we just had no money then 20 years ago) but she and I did things that we used to do when I was little. I'm 37 now and I am suggesting that you two stick to just Disney. Have fun!
