15 hour flight from Melbourne to LA.
4 - 5 hours from LA to MCO.

I'm sure this puts the Aussies in the "insane" catagory.

wow and I thought we had a long drive

guess I shouldn't complain about my 16 hour drive now.

There's 9 hours drive between Melbourne and Sydney, 9 hours between Sydney and Brisbane.
A 4 day drive to get from Melbourne to Perth, and only the black stump and desert in between (and Adelaide...mustn't forget Adelaide; but it's only 7 hours away).

Aussies would do this 16 hour drive twice in a week (not)

Air fares from Melbourne to LA can range anywhere from $1000 - $2500 depending on the time of year you go.
Afterwhich, it would cost the same as you; with a x% mark-up for exchange rate differences.
I've travelled with anywhere from a 45 -10% markup.

Last year was great!! There were deals everywhere because of the GFC and
deals were as low as $930 to LA and $970 to NY.

I love to cook but I HATE the clean-up!

I mean, I just cleaned the kitchen today... do I really want to mess it up again??

I'm thinking maybe have DH BBQ outside.

we could grill brats, dogs, burgers, corn, peppers. make some baked bean.

that could be minimum pans right??
