Hi,

I would imagine you would use 0044 prefix and drop the first zero on the mobile number.

eg 07801 354 657 becomes 0044 7801 354 657

or you could use a + instead of the two zeros at the start ie +44.

Hope this helps

Paul

You do have to dial the UK prefix.

I can confirm from experience!!!!

Has your friend checked the cost of making and receiving mobile calls on a UK phone while roaming in the USA? I'm with Orange and had planned to use my mobile in Orlando until I saw the cost of the calls - I thought they were prohibitively expensive.

Regards

Rob

we had thought about using tri band mobiles to keep in touch until we saw the cost of the calls

even worse though in our case because i'm on orange and the other mobile is on o2

we will probably but some frs radios and give them a go

We are both on O2 and paid to be on the Worldwide Traveller Service which was £3.50 per month. It greatly reduced the call cost. Plus my mum called e everyday from uk and I called her. Also we had customer support calls coming in. While out there I called Nic from mine all the time when I couldn't find him (usually when money needed to be paid) and our total bill between us was............£60.

For both phones seperate contracts non business rates. We usually have a combined cost of £25

Giggler - its just 44 7070 123 123 or whatever the mobil number is. ( Add 44 and take off the first 0 or +44 if you are phoning from a mobile )

Rob - Know what you mean. We have used orange abroad for the last 5 or 6 years and have had no real problems . It avearges out at about £ 1 per min over the outgoing and incoming calls. That was with voicestream which it automatically picked up.

In august this year it seemed to flip between voicestream and USA 34 which is AT&T . The signal from AT&T was rubbish and the bill was horrendous over £ 100 for a weeks visit . ( Good job its a company phone... and company business ;) )The moral of the story is take your phone of automatic roaming and put it on manual roaming to make sure it only pics up the voicestream signal.

David :D
