.and votes republican!!!

Well, I always have too, since the 1968 presidential election (except for once for Perot :lmao: ) and Powell convinced me to switch - Palin had something to do with that too, hot but incompetent.

I have voted Republican since '72 in all but two elections - voted for Perot & voted for Clinton in his 2nd term. Powell got my attention, too.

That's right they changed the vote to 18 in 1971 -

Al...say it ain't soooooo:scared1: ..OKAY CLOSE THE THREAD NOW! Al wins..he's the thread KILLER

I've usually voted Republican as well..but I admit ...like Debbie I did vote for Clinton in his second term. Only...Al.... while..Palin doesn't inspire confidence..the idea of Obama, resdistributing the weatlth. (give me a break a two income family with good professions, can bring in $200,000.00. Hey..at least you could look at someone "hot" for four years! Is THAT to much to ask?
I don't know..honestly neither one of them does anything for me..and I don't think either will be able to do anything they promise in four years.

Im really not one to talk politics...mainly because I dont know squat about it except that not a single one of them is any better than the other..because their all after my money in some way or another. I know, thats a broad statement...hence me not usually joining in on the political discussions..Im very narrow minded in this area.
Being that you are from a militaried background, Al, it seems like following Powell would only be natural for you. Youve always been trained to obey and respect the higher ranked officers. Thats admirable....but Powell and Obama have ONE BIG FACTOR in common....and Im not at all sure that if Obama werent a black candidate, that Powell would even recognize him as a contender in this race...take the use of the word "race" to mean what YOU feel it should mean in this statement.
Im not against a black man winning the presidency...Im against a black man who contiually preaches CHANGE...but hasnt explained what those changes will be or who those changes will benefit. Im fairly sure IM not one of the ones those changes are being made for...at least not in a positive way. Im afraid of his hidden meaning of CHANGE. "WE NEED CHANGE" is as broad a statement as me saying that all politicians suck. Obviously they all suck...but who's going to suck less out of ME? Obviously we need change, but if the changes mean that Im going to finally be taught what 200 years of opression really feels like...NO FREAKIN THANKS!!!! I prefer the recession ANYDAY.
Not trying to sway anyones vote here..but since I rarely excerise my right to free speech on this subject...just thought Id toss some gasoline near a napalm explosion.

Phyllis,

The way I look at it, I voted twice for Bush, a supposed fiscal conservative, and we have record deficits, record debt, energy prices that are only coming down because the economy is in the worst mess it's been in in 80 years, we're involved in a totally unnecessary war in Iraq, the country is so divided it's not even funny, we have a terrible environmental mess because of Republican neglect - should I go on - I respect Powell's opinion - let's give the Democrats a chance - they can't screw it up any more than it has been over the past 8 years - and it pains me to say that.

You make sense, Al..only it pains me to say this..but WHERE"S HILARY?....I don't really take issue with giving Democrats a chance. It's this particular Democrat that worries me. Then again..I liked Edwards..and we all saw where that went.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.

I am with Rog. Obama won't have my vote. I just don't think he is ready besides I am not comfortable with a canidate who doesn't want to wear an American flag pin because he is afraid of offending another country amoung other things.
It has NOTHING to do with the fact that he is black. I wouldn't care if he was pink with purple dots as long as he could do the job.

You see, that is the great thing about our country. We can be on here voicing our opinions because of all the brave men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our freedoms.
God bless America.
