we were almost home (last road before turning up our drive) after having been to church and we saw a snake in the road. DH stops, gets out, says it is a copperhead so he runs over it. Get home, my sister is calling me when we get out of the van. She was at the neighbors house (across from where the snake was)......she said it was already dead.....
cousin had shot it. But also told me that neighbor 3 houses down had been down the road right after they killed that one and got to his driveway and found two more copperheads which he killed.
So 3 copperheads in less than 1/2 a mile..........

We do see lots of snakes. That is the first time we've seen that many in the same time frame (adult snakes that is) in such a short distance. DH did find a nest of babies one year when mowing and cleaning up around some trees. They were in a little indentation at the base of the tree.....there were 4 or 5 of them.....I came home and he had them all stretch out in the road.

It wasn't on your property, and it wasn't harming you. I think it is kind of sick to mow any kind of animal over on purpose.
