Could you upgrade to a Deluxe resort at the last minute? For example, either days before arrival or day of arrival upon check-in. Do they offer any deals for this if you do it at check-in? I am guessing no, but curious. Staying at Pop Century in July and curious!

Please forgive my ignorance...most of my travel experience is with cruises (especially travelling as an adult, even for years as a kid we only did cruises for vacations) so I am used to their upgrading system (if you upgrade upon boarding the ship on many cruiselines, the price is significantly lower than booking the same cabin in advance). So again, forgive my ignorance, new at all this Disney stuff and my kids are very little so I know this will be the first of many trips!!

Thanks,
Bonnie

Unfortunately, Disney doesn't work that way. You won't get any special deals for last-minute changes. What you're more likely to find, if you wait till the last minute, is that you'll either pay rack rate for the room, or won't find any availability at all. Resort occupancy has been running very high, and July is a busy month.

Disney pretty much always announces their discounts several months in advance. If the advance bookings at a resort are not up to their expectations, they'll announce a discount code for a certain number of rooms at that resort. When that number of rooms are booked, the discount goes away. So, you're more likely to miss out on a discount by waiting.

Keep an eye out for discount codes on Mousesavers. If you see one for a deluxe resort you're interesting in booking, call ASAP and change your reservation.

1) Same resort
. . . you can ask at check-in if you can upgrade
. . . if available, you can pay addition money
. . . sometimes, you can get a price break for the upgrade
2) Different resort
. . . you can ask for a resort change at check-in
. . . if same range, you can usually keep any package/discount you have
. . . if an upgrade, you usually pay rack rate
. . . you will know the price of the new resort before you leave original resort

NOTE: The upgrade resort has the option of offering a price break. It is not the option of the first resort. However, the CM at the first resort can ask if there would be a price break. Price breaks for the upgrade resort do happen, but rarely.
