I got a bonus from work and extra time off, I wanted some opinions on if a surprise trip to DW would be do-able? My kids really enjoyed the dining experiences and it looks like most are booked up. Any tip or suggestions? I wanted to arrive this Tuesday and stay for about 6 nights. My budget is about $6500-7000. I really liked the way the Polynesian looked last time but it does not show available rooms :(

Well we booked the 15th through the 23rd. Staying at port Orleans riverside. Was able to get 11 character dining reservations.

Right now our kids know that we are going on vacation but not where at. We are trying to decide if it should be a surprise or just tell them before we go. It's going to be a 16 hour drive so do we leave them guessing the whole trip or not....

Wow!! Crazy last minute trip! I did that last year and it was fun and very impromptu. I hope you're enjoying yourself there!!

I think it would be fun to let them guess on the way. Good luck with the reservations. Welcome to Disboards. Most of all have a great trip.

Cheers Larry.

Awesome! We are also doing a last minute - at POR - in September .. we leave in 60 days! Awesome with the Dining reservations~! I am hoping for the same luck!

If the character meals stay booked up don't worry, I'm sure your kids will be overwhelmed and excited with the surprise to be sad about not having a character meal!

Also check every day for any open ADRs, every six hours even! Something MIGHT come up! :)

ENJOY!
