Last Minute Trip - Tickets and Eats???

We are going last minute to Disneyland on Friday. We are out in Cali for a short trip and driving down from sacramento. I can get tickets through work (one day/one park is all we need) for ~61. Is there anything cheaper out there, through Amex or grocery stores, everyone beside me/my son (4) that is going is a SoCal resident.

Also, can you book a character lunch, and if so what is the recommendation?

DS is soooooo excited to be going again, we went last year for two days.

From Sacramento you're looking at a 5 hour drive minimum, just so you know.

Yes, you can book a character meal but space and available time will be limited at this point. Call Disney Dining and see what they have for you. Most of the meals are breakfast or dinner, Ariel's Grotto does lunch and Minnie's might (I've never done Minnie's character meals) but you should call and find out.
I don't know about ticket prices, we have AP's so I can't help you there, but I can tell you that if you got park hoppers at the gate they are $91 for one day.

Minnie;s is only breakfast but you can get a late seating- 10:30. Ariel's is the only "lunch or dinner" in the parks.

if you are going with people who are so cal resisdents they can purhase up to 8 tickets per person at the 2fer price. In the slight chance that you can go back another day to the other park. Before the ticket expires. Or give it back to them and they can take someone else a different day.

One time we had a 1:00 reservation for Goofy's Kitchen over at the DLH. At that time they closed at 2:00 to get ready for dinner later in the day. It was a brunch, so you could keep eating breakfast if you wanted, but there was also pizza, hot dogs, salad, etc. available too. So that might be another option if you can't get into Ariel's or Minnie's.
