We are thinking about planning a trip for the last wk (not the whole wk) of Jan. If there are still villas available for our party size on the regular reservation website does that mean we have a pretty good shot at availability using our points? I'm not quite ready to reserve with our points so I was just checking on the cash reservation site to see what was still available for non-dvc members.

It depends on how many days you want to stay. You might have to do a split stay.

the answer is "no." cash inventory is completely separate from points inventory.

(well, mostly "no" - sometimes cash inventory is made up of "breakage inventory," in other words villas that are available at 60 days out go to CRO to try to sell for cash. in some of those "breakage" cases, the inventory can be moved back into the points category.

but generally, cash and points inventories don't tell you anything about whether the other type of inventory has availability.)

I had no trouble changing the dates on my trip for the last week of January, so I'd just give MS a call and see what they have. Just be flexible with both location and unit size if you need to be.

Like Charles said, those are different inventory. When a member trades their points to go on a Disney cruise, or to stay at a non-DVC Disney hotel, the stay those points represent goes over to Disney Reservations Center to be booked for with cash. That cash then pays for the points reservation. Once those points (and the lodging they represent) have been used, they cannot be used for a points stay again.

You are only 1 phone call away from finding out as inventory changes quickly. The MS folks are very efficient and friendly.. I still prefer the old fashion way and I call people! Hope you get your accomodations
