We are leaving for Disney next Friday, staying at the Polynesian, and have no ADR's whatsoever! We aren't a large party [3 people] but I know reservations are now almost required if you want to go out for dinner.
Should we attempt calling Disney Dining now or just try walk-ups and hope we have a little luck?
:confused3

PS: Please excuse my English, I'm not from the United States :]

I would recommend calling Disney Dining, whether now or even when you are at the parks. I've heard a lot of stories where people who had just called for an ADR 30 minutes (or same day) prior saw people being turned away left and right for "no walk ups".

I thought your English was perfectly excellent, by the way :goodvibes

Enjoy your last-minute trip!!

I would check in with guest services when you arrive at your hotel or daily at the parks. I have had luck stopping at the restaurant and maing a ressie for later in the day. If you can eat at odd times it does help ....

i would try calling to see what you can get-- at least if you can get a few ADRS you want maybe not at the best time-- sometimes i think also that once people are at disney, they change there plans, of they see another restaurant that they would like to try so they do for that-- so it might be possible to even try calling a day of two ahead of time once you are at disney-- good luck for getting what you are looking for:) I would def call to at least see what you can get

We were in Disney last Sept for free dining. Our TA somewhat delted our O'Hana dinner reservation and could not get us anything during our entire trip. FOr 3 days we tried Disney Dining and the front desk of the hotel and were told there was no availability.

On the 3rd day we were leaving MK. I said "Let's just stop over at the Poly". We walked up at 4:45 (they were opening at 5:00) and were seated about 5:05 for dinner.

So, I think that they do have some room for walk-ups

I think you should call disney dinning between 7:00 am to 7:30am in the morning. Let me tell my story I had a whole trip planned for the first week of September but due to my daugther new school I had to cancel and move it to the third week of August last week on Thursday. I call early and I was able to get most of the same reservations I had even Cinderella Royal Table for Dinner. I had it before for Lunch but I think you have to be flexible with your schedule if you want to get something. Ohh another thing a CM told today that if I want to get some other reservations I just need to keep calling at that time because they update the system every morning with all the reservations cancelled from the day before. So just called tomorrow morning!!! I send you lots of pixie dust pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Not to worry. We always just call WDW-Dining each morning and see what they
have available that day. We have tried some wonderful restaurants that we
might not have tried otherwise. We have never gone hungry. Have fun!

My family have just returned from two weeks in Orlando. They are a group of 9 and didn't make a single ADR before they went! They had the best time ever! Just eating in the parks where ever they could be fit in for lunch meant they tried loads of places they wouldnt have, and they also tried loads of great places on I-Drive at night. It not for me (I am an addicted ADR planner) but obviouly it can be done, and can be highly enjoyable, so don't worry!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Call disney dining now and be flexible! Ask them what they have available anywhere on the date that you need. They will go through the list and let you know. Plan your parks around your meals. There will be tables available as long as you are flexible in your planning!!

I would call now....See what you can get now...

If there is something that you cannot get now...Call once you get there...I would cal each morning...People cancel their ADR up to the day before or day of...I know we do depending on how we are feeling...

I do not bother with Guest Relations at the resort because that means having to get dressed to go there...It is easy to call from your room or on your cell....Guest Relations cannot work wonders...They cannot get something for you if it is not available.

I would definitealy CALL, now and as many times as you can. People do cancel. Decide where you would like to eat, but also be very flexible. I would also call once I am at WDW. Things may open up for you. I would not rely on Walk Ups. I think you will be frustrated and hungry if you do it that way.
Good Luck

If you were going during free dining I would say call NOW and take whatever they have available.

At the time you're going, if you're flexible enough you can probably call while you are at WDW and find suitable places to make ADRs, although you will most likely be out of luck at the very popular restaurants. I would not chance walkups unless they are at resort restaurants that are not convenient to the parks, or Downtown Disney or Swan/Dolphin restaurants that don't take the dining plan. I'd still try the ADR route first.

I would try to call. I will say we where there last month, and I really wanted to try breakfast at Ohana's. They where booked every time I called, I even called the day before from the resort. Then the next AM, we went down when they opened, at 730, and they sat us. So my feeling without an ADR is to get there as soon as a place opens. It may not always work, but if you strike out on the phone, it is worth a try.

I would call and get at least a few ADRs. Heck I am still calling and changing mine around!!! Couldn't hurt to have a few favorites locked in!!!:goodvibes

I agree with everyone else. Call now. If you can't find what you need keep an eye on this thread:

Your english was wonderful!

Like many here, I am a compulsive planner - but that's not always the best thing and sometimes I wonder if we lose the 'fun' of just seeing what the day would bring on it's own. My grown children - of which there are 4 - are divided about "Mom's planning".

So I'd call - and ask what is available and maybe pick a few but I'd just try once you're there. Sounds like it will be fun either way!

I didn't know about ADR's even though we booked our trip in April so I just made our reservations this past week. I was disappointed not to get Cinderella's castle for my granddaughter but we'll go to Akershus instead - and find Cinderella in the park (I hope.) :)

Please come back and post about the Polynesian as that is where we are staying!

Have a great trip!
