Last minute trip for Thanksgiving

Can any of you travel agents or frequent travelers please help me? I live in Nashville Tenn and I am trying to plan a last minute trip 11/19/01-11/25/01. My problem is how to get to WDW. After driving last July, I don't think I could convince my DH to do that again with our 2 DS. I have checked airlines and the flights are cheap for Oct, but like $400 in Nov over Thanksgiving. I even tried Amtrak (what a confusing web site) and I don't think anything was available for Orlando or Kissimee (sp?). Should I call a travel agent? I really wanted to make this trip kind of a budget trip. We just went in July of this year. The only thing I was able to find was one way to Tampa for $89 and return at $149 on Southwest. Is this the best I can do? EEEK. That kills me after seeing $58 round trip tickets for other days. Thanks for your help.

My understanding is that the Sunday after Thanksgiving is the absolute busiest day for airline travel. I don't think fares for that time will get any cheaper. Can you alter your dates to avoid coming back on that day? The Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving are quite busy park days, anyway. Good luck!

If you were planning to rent a car anyway and can find good fares to Tampa, try that.

Tampa is about one hour's driving more than Orlando Airport getting to and from Disney World.

For a family of four, you may be able to find a rental car not too much more than the cost of the limo or shuttle from MCO to Disney.

If you are somewhat flexible, it might be a good idea to fly out on Thanksgiving and return Monday morning. That is what we are doing for a Disney cruise. Even with the hotel Sunday night, it is still cheaper than taking a Sunday flight due to the holiday crowds. Hubby and I both work for flexible employers, so we will be going in to work on Mon. when we return. We are taking Happy Limo for all legs of the trip and will probably be staying at the airport Hilton (we were originally planning to stay at Hard Rock and visit IOA on Sun., but with an early morning flight, we have to be at the airport at an obnoxiously early time).
