Booked a 9 night stay at OKW on 4 weeks notice..yay boxing day flight sales!

I see that the main pool is going to be closed while we are there. Transportation apparently provided to SS to use their pools. Thinking about requesting a room near the Turtle pool area and then planning a couple pool hopping days. Thoughts on where to hop to? GF? The paddock pool at SS? Others? Looking to entertain a 4 and 7 year old who like pools/slides/splash zones.

They loved the Kidani pool/play area last year.

Thanks!

You can only use the pools at OKW and Saratoga while the main pool is closed. If you are DVC, the rules are different.

Pool hopping has become very restricted for DVC members staying on their own points. Your choices will be limited to OKW (which you already said will be refurbished during your stay), SSR, BWV and GF. All other feature pools are no longer available for hopping. Of those pools, I think that the splash and play area at the GF is the best.

From the members benefits page:
Pool hopping is not available at Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Uzima Pool and Samawati Springs Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas, the Lava Pool and leisure pool at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, the Silver Creek Springs Pool and Hidden Springs Pool at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the pools at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. There are no exceptions to this policy.

They could also hop to the non dvc resort pools other than (as stated) at aoa. IF they own dvc and are staying on their points and will have the member card with them.

But I personally like the turtle pond pool. :)

We are staying on DVC member points, but the member won't be with us. I can't seem to find a clear answer on where that puts us. Everything I read says "the member and their guests can..." but it never says the member must be present.

The member must be present. Benefits are given to the member, not the points.

The member must be present to show their card.

I'm the Associate on our account; DH is the member. HE has the card. If I'm on a solo trip I cannot get any of the member benefits because I don't have a card. And that includes pool hopping unless I want to chance embarrassment.

As the others have stated, the member must be present to show their membership card per DVC rules.
Guests of members or those who rent points from members are not entitled to membership perks - only the member. So they must be with you if you are their guest.

I don't want to start a war. But it's your husband, I would never consider to not be a member myself if even if my husband is the only one On the actual paperwork. We have 2 cars one is in his name the other is in my but we both consider them to be ours. If u are associated on the account and contribute to the payments then why wouldn't you be entitled to the same perks. I'm not starting trouble at all but she is not renting points, wouldn't she be considered as using her own points , they are married? We are looking to buy ourselves and this is a good question to know the answer too.

Yeah, that's not the way it works with DVC. If your name isn't on the membership as an owner (member), no benefits are extended.

Wow explains why the first thing my cousin wanted n her divorce as their membership lol. Always thought when your married what mine is yours , and what yours is mine. Guess Disney has its own rules

It says:
"the member AND their guests can..."
NOT
"the member OR their guests can..."

There's a difference and if you're not with the actual member whose points are being used for the reservation, you are not entitled to pool hop.

It's not Disney's rules, it's a matter of property ownership. If your name is not on the deed, you're not an owner. Just like a house.

And with Lynne's house example, that is even true if married in a number of scenarios. My spouse and I both owned homes when we married; he was never an owner of my house, and only when I was added to the deed of the home he owned did I become an owner, because both were acquired outside of marriage in a non-community property state. However, I had rights of tenancy in his house.

To get DVC member benefits, you gotta have a DVC member card. To get a member card, you must be on the deed.

And that's why I told my husband I had to be on the deed - I actually go more often than he does and wanted my own membership card. I am the one who really, really wanted DVC. LOL

To answer the OP's question - since they aren't the member, they can only hop to the Saratoga Springs Pool based on the fact that the main pool at OKW will be closed for refurbishment.
Of course they could try to hop elsewhere but need to be prepared to be told nope - can't pool hop there without the DVC member present.

And, even with the DVC owner present, you can't hop to AKV, BLT/CR, Poly, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club or AoA.

You have to have the member card in your name to get the people perks. As an associate I don't have that. I'm NOT the member.

When you buy in, make sure your name goes on the deed. That makes you a member. You'll get your own membership card in your name and this won't be an issue for you and your spouse.

We're not too savvy in some financial ways and I didn't want my name on the loan, and didn't realize that I could have had my name on the deed but not the loan. So we've be had to wait until the loan was paid off (a requirement) to have it redeeded to add my name. Once that is done then I'll get my own membership card.
