Hi all- we decided about a week ago to do a last minute trip for Spring Break week April 17th. Have been planning and saving for trip, but thought it wouldn't happen this soon, but are able to swing it with some budgeting. Realized with 2 of our 4 kids in high school next year, this will be our last school vacation with everyone free. Between the two of them, they would be playing sports every season-so not able to go away any school holidays. So no vacation time other than summer(which we spend with family at the beach). So we are very excited!

I have a question- everything is pretty muched booked for Character dinning that week. Years ago when we went, I was calling almost every day to try and book princess stuff for my daughters. Trying to find a cancellation, but that was at 30 days out I think. Is it even worth it to try this at this point? A week out? Just wondering if anyone has had any luck or tips with last minute cancellations? Is it better to call each day or try online? Kids are older now, (15,14,12, 9) think we would really enjoy it, but it is expensive and think we could live without it. But also would kind of like to try for one for my 9 yo son or maybe 1900 Park Fare for the girls and I, my thinking that 3 would be easier to find a cancellation for than 6. The one I want, I'm sure would never be available would be 1900 Park Fare for breakfast. Is Mary Poppins still there for breakfast? Or is it hit and miss?

On the other hand, my 9yo son being the youngest of 4 is not your typical 9 yo-has grown up pretty fast and may not even miss it. Would just be happy seeing the characters in the park and being there at all. And not sure we even want to be tied down to being somewhere at a certain day/time. Oh, and I can't ask them because we are surprising them! They didn't think we were going back for a few years.

Any advice would be very helpful! Thank you!

There aren't any tricks to landing a ressie this close to your vacation, other than trying multiple times a day online or calling.

Calling, the CMs see what you do, so that isn't an advantage.

The only thing you can do is schedule everything you can, so you aren't stuck eating CS while there. (as you are going at a HEAVY time of year, 99.9% of TS won't be available when you get there).

And keep checking for better adrs or ones you really want.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Try the Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. I just booked my trip last Thursday same as you Last minute Annie they call me. The Tusker House breakfast is really nice. Characters spend some time with everyone and you are not rushed. Good Luck and enjoy your vacation.

if you want a character meal for your family - then book one!

I'm not sure how long you are going -
but I searched for Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 -
you can narrow your search to a character meal and a time (breakfast, lunch, or dinner)
Monday had Hollywood and Vine 10:05 and Crystal Palace 9:05 - Party of 6
Tuesday had a 9:15 1900 Park Fare open - for a party of 6!

Take some time to make some ADRs for your family !

Thank you so much for your advice everyone! Deanna- I did get the 9 15 at 1900 on Tuesday! Even though it's for 6.....weird, they did not have it for 3 but for 6. Well, guess my boys will have to dine with Mary Poppins and Prince Charming...just told my DH that I'm the one stressing and doing all the planning and my favorite character is Mary Poppins, so the boys will just have to deal!

Is Mary Poppins there for breakfast? All of the time? Some of the time? Anyone know?

1900 park fare is Mary and Alice in wonderland and mad hatter for breakfast.

Go rent the cartoon for this week!

Glad you got the resi!!!!

Another question- can't get to the phone right now to confirm this..sitting here with my son and he's watching a movie....I made a second ADR and it did not ask for my credit card #. We are not on the DP. Did they just use my credit card from the first reservation? I can't find a number anywhere in my profile or in my confirmation email. Just want to make sure I really have it!

And the cancellation is 48 hours in advance, right?
