Hello all!

We (pregnant wife, DH, DD2 and Grandma) are due to leave for WDW next Friday morning and I am having second thoughts about staying at the Poly. Basically, a great pool is very important as we expect to spend a fair amount of time each day lounging by one. My indecision comes because I have heard great things about the Poly (as well as some recent not so great things) and some really great things about the YC/BC pool.

We are only staying for four days and plan to go to MK one day, Epcot one day and AK one day - fourth day winging it. I am beginning to think that being on the monorail is not an absolute must as I first thought and that the YC/BC pool may outweigh the advantage of the monorail.

I do however like the idea of Poly's larger, recently renovated rooms as we will be staying in one room together and will spend nap time there also.

I am a little ticked that I have been unable to get any reservations for either Ohana or Kona for anytime during our stay (that is not a very late night dinner). true, we booked the trip only a month ago but I have called at least 10 times sonce and canot get a reservation.
Will the YC/BC offer more options as far as grabbing a bite or even possibly getting a sit down meal?

All and any advice is greatly appreciated!

Oh, the rates are the same, with BC a tad cheaper than the other two, so $ not a factor.

Thank you so much!

both resorts are absolutely wonderful. if i had a two year old, i would pick the poly. beach, zeroentry pool, laying on a hammock, better poolside bar, larger rooms, and better transportaton options in my opinion.

I wouldn't switch, especially if yoiu are all staying in one room. You will appreciate the larger rooms at the Polynesian and the pools are just as wet as those at the YC/BC (and probably LESS crowded).

Don't despair over not getting reservations at Ohana or Kona Cafe. I believe they hold back some same day reservations for resort guests (at least they used to) and others have reported being accomodated without a reservation. Finally, there is no real place to "grab a bite to eat" at the YC/BC other than their table service restaurants. At the Polynesian you can eat 24 hours a day at Captain Cooks.

Have a fun trip!

Having stayed at both places, the Poly is the way to go for my family...myself, wife, and 2 1/2 year old. If your going soon, having to catch buses and travel just to get into the kingdom or epcot, is going to be a pain, compared to hopping on an airconditioned monorail, Animal kingdom i would drive to if you have a car, no reason to wait for the buses. Ask the front desk concierge for reservations as soon as you get there for Ohana's, and then just call from your room, Kona you should be able to walk up to, Even Ohana's we've put our names in, without reservations, and gave us a 2 hour wait, so we walked around, played videogames, came back in an 1 1/2 hours and had a firework show while we ate. Can't beat the Poly pool, seeing the kingdom, right across the lake, plus, every night, you get a firework show, from right out the back door.:goodvibes

The restaurants are booked solid due to free dining promotion that runs through end of September. Don't count on getting a walk-up anywhere, check with guest services as soon as you arrive. Try getting lunch at Kona, you may have better luck than dinner.

Stick with the Poly! Your 2 year old will love the Electric Water Parade there too. Rooms are very nice! You can monorail to GF or CR for dinner.

The YC/BC has Beaches and Cream and the Beach club right next door has a counter service place. Beaches and Cream is good and a fun little place. it can be crowded so you need to go there at off hours.
You also have Yachtsman steakhouse and the Galley to eat at. we enjoyed the Galley.
Cape May is a good Character breakfast and is at BC... they also have a nice Buffett for dinner. (check out allearsnet.com for menu and info on all)
You are close to Epcot and the boardwalk which offer many more choices on dining!!!
So when it comes to places to eat...... YC/BC have MANY choices.

We LOVE the YC and the area!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE
The pool is amazing.

We have decided to try the Poly on our next trip since we now have a toddler and would like to be on the monorail. We also thought it would be nice to try another resort.

But if you are having second thoughts I will say that We had excellent service and loved the YC.
Just thought I would put that out there.

You could stay at Poly and then go over and visit the Boardwalk YC/BC area if you've never been. You can eat over at the YC. Its soooooooooo beautiful there. Just thinking of it, aaaaaaaahhhhhh. The Poly did look a little tired somewhat a couple years back but I hear its had some renovations, but watching the fireworks, water parade, monorail was wonderful!

Having stayed at both resorts with young children I would go for the Poly. It is just easier to get around with a 2 yo. I would try for a walk up at the Kona. People make reservations and then don't show up all the time even during free dinning. Good luck and have a great time.
