I have always purchased out air tickets much sooner. This is a last minute trip to Disney. Was going to beach but now suprising daughter and niece. Tomorrow will be exactly 2 weeks out. I looked over the weekend and thought I would wait a day or so to see if they dropped any. Well today return flight is now $237 up from $183. Should I just book now anyways or does anyone think they will drop some tomorrow? I know they start getting really high less than 2 weeks. Any ideas?

I am kind of in the same boat as you but not as last minute. I already bought tickets for the weekend before Thanksgiving, but I need to change the date. I'm thinking that I should wait and see if the rates drop tomorrow but then I'm afraid that the prices might go up instead of going down. If I were you and tomorrow was my 2 weeks date, I think I would book. I think they go up as it gets closer. I'm thinking I should probably book tonight too because my date is so close to Thanksgiving but I'm tempted to wait and see if I can get cheaper pricing. One leg of my trip is $100 more than the other so I hate to pay the extra $ and get a credit that I probably won't use.

I also will probably not be able to use the credit as well. So many times I have had $100+ in credit that expires before i never get to use. I just checked the flights again and they still are the same as earlier. I honestly don't know what to do at this point. I am going to sit on it for a little bit more tonight.

Well I waited and prices are the same. I'm going to check again this afternoon and if they are still the same, I'm just going to book. I looked at the current sale and it ends July 31st. My location is not included in that sale, but I'm afraid to wait too long because I have set travel dates and it's the weekend before a holiday.

I am not sure why the Tuesday morning belief is so strong on here because it really is no longer valid. Now airlines can, and do, update fares any time

Back before computers airfares were updated on Monday but those days are long gone.

Southwest fares do often go up on the weekend-sometimes only a few bucks, but it does happen. I've been watching these fares for a while now and sometimes they go up on Fridays and sometimes they don't. Probably depends on how many people are booking. If they go up on Fridays, they usually come back down by Tuesdays. This is usually true of non-peak fares (like my trip at the end of August).

Now the Nov dates that I have been watching have not been changing at all. But it might because it's so close to a holiday weekend.

I booked a trip for next week very last minute. 3 weeks out. Was going to take my chance and wait for fares to go down but I decided to book. So happy I did because they never went back down. When I see a price I am willing to pay I book. Especially on SW because I know I will use the credit. Have a safe trip.

I to just checked and they are the same as yesterday.

I'm waiting until this afternoon and if nothing changes, I'm booking before I leave work. I'm giving them a couple more hours in case they decide they want to give me a deal.

Ok-I caved in and changed mine. Paid an extra $420 but it's worth it to know that I have the flights that I wanted.

I had been stalking Southwest for my return flight for a month. I finally bought at its lowest on Friday: $176. It went up to $210 today, Tuesday. So I guess that busts the whole "Tuesday afternoon" thing for Southwest. At least in my case.:confused3

Not necessarily. Someone else must have bought tickets after you, so that's why the pricing went up. So when all of the tickets left in the $176 tier were sold, the next people buying tickets pay for the next tier up-$210. The ticket prices didn't change-just more seats sold for the flight that you chose.

I booked my Monday night. They stayed the same until sometime today they went up alot. I could of saved a little more if i had not of booked non-stop flights.
