Hi all,

DH & I are 48 hours away from my b-day trip to DLR.

:bounce:

I've checked the weather 10-day forecast and it looks like low-80's. Can you guys lucky enough to live close to Disneyland verify this? Does it cool off a lot at night?

Where do I find out the schedule for the free water show at Disneyland hotel?

Are there breakfast pastries at Marceline's in Downtown Disney?

We're very excited but we've yet to pack.
:p

It looks like we're hitting a cooling trend - good thing, since it was about 100º when I was at Disneyland a couple of weekends ago. Expect the low 80's, and not very cool at night - pretty comfortable, in fact. However, I do recommend bringing a light sweater or sweatshirt just in case it does cool down more in the next week or so for nighttime.

I haven't seen an actual schedule for this. It usually plays after the sun goes down - 8pm? 8:30? Ask when you check in, & they should know, or if you're not staying at the DL Hotel, you can still ask someone who works there & they'll let you know. I believe there are two shows a night.

I haven't seen any myself. However, at Compass Books, which is next to the AMC theater, sort of, has breakfast pastries and Krispie Kreme donuts, if you'd like to just get something light. They also have outside tables there. My kids grabbed something there for breakfast when we stayed at the DL Hotel.

La Brea Bakery also offers pastries, plus oatmeal, etc., if you'd like to try them.

Have a great birthday celebration at Disneyland. :earsgirl:

(Stop by City Hall & get a birthday sticker - you'll have more fun on your special day. :) )

Thanks Mary Jo.

I do plan on getting a birthday sticker and we are staying at DL.

I also plan on getting those yummy brownies at Marcelines.

Guess we'll get our breakfast goodies at La Brea or beignets at Brennans.

We're experiencing our indian summer up here. It's been in the high 90's.

Can't wait for our trip! Just not looking forward to packing. ;)

I can highly recommend La Brea Bakery. I've grabbed breakfast pastries there in the past and they were very good. La Brea Bakery has a stellar reputation. The original in Los Angeles always has a line out the door first thing in the morning and is usually wiped out of breads by the afternoon. The owner, Nancy Silverton, has an exceptional reputation in the restaraunt industry. Her breads grace the tables of many fine restaraunts in the So. Calif. area. Being the exceptional baker that she is, you can expect her pastries to be equally as good as her breads.

I would defintely stay away from the bakery in DCA. Terrible, dry pastries there.

What's the water show like? First I've heard of it.

When I was there two years ago, it was interesting. It was a small show, and you sat on the concrete in front of the fountain. Pictures were projected on the water of the fountain, and music was played. It wasn't a huge production, I'd say it was more quaint than impressive. Oddly enough, my family enjoyed this far more than we liked Fantasmic.

Ditto on everything Mary Jo said about the weather. Just a light, light jacket for the evenings is all you may need. They days are gorgeous right now.

For the Fantasy waters show, go to Disneyland.com and check under the schedule for the hotels. It has been listed there in the past.

Regarding the water show...

* I believe there is a sign right in front of it that says when the show is on. And I really thought I read it somewhere when I stayed at the GC, but I can't remember where.

* As for a description, for anyone who knows about or has seen the water show at Bellagio, the one at DLH uses the same concepts, but on a much smaller scale. After I saw the DLH show, I was convinced that the Bellagio must've "stole" their concept!

We were there last weekend and the water show was not happening. In fact the fountain area where they have this was drained and empty and there was a sign saying no show scheduled for that day, so who knows when it will be back, hopefully in time for your trip! As for weather it was really hot last weekend and we did not need jackets in the evening for the first time ever. Even in August we needed a jacket by around 9:00 p.m. Like somebody else said however I would definitely take something in case it does cool off. Have fun!!

Over the weekend was very hot (I was at DCA both days), but the last couple days have been much cooler. Mornings have been downright chilly (in the 60s which compared to the weekend feels cold, though I'm enjoying it). I would definetely have sweatshirts or jackets.

Just remembered this. You may want to check into "The Happiest Birthdays On Earth" That they have at the Plaza Inn. They have some sort of birthday parties that start at around $10 per person. I've never done this and can't remember what all you get but, it may be something fun for you.
Check out Mouseplanet or Laughing Place. They should have more info on it
