Hello

This will be our first trip as a DVC member to the Boardwalk. We are leaving this wednesday 9/28. (Yeah!!!) My husband and I will be traveling with our 1yr and 7yr. Since we have never stayed at the Boardwalk and we are not familiar with how the DVC works. We will be staying in a 1 bedroom standard view.

Can anyone give me any tips or things not to forget or ask for. For instance do all the rooms come with a washer and dryer? Do they provide detergent? I asume that they don't should I bring some from home or is there a place where I can purchase it. Also, I know that coffee makers are in the room. Do they provide coffee filters. Is there a big enough supply or is there a place to purchase? Does anyone know the type of filters? cone or basket shape? In case I have to bring from home, I will know what type to buy. I know this may sound crazy, but since its our first trip I am not sure what and what not to bring. I ordered a few groceries. I faxed it over to Disney on Friday. It says that they are delivered after 5pm. Are they delviered directly to your room? What happens if you are not in your room when they are delivered? Will they hold them someplace or will they deliver to your room and put them away. I order milk so I am not sure how they handle.

I am not sure of the layout of the hotel so when I made my reservation I requested a non-smoking room near the elevator and I requested a bath tub. Another poster indicated that she got a handicapped room with no bath tub. She had small children and it made it nearly impossible to give the kids a bath. Our 7yr old takes showers, however we need a tub for our 1yr old. I asked for a room close to the elevators so that we would not have a long walk each morning and night. I am not sure if this was ok. I am not too concerned with hearing the noice of the elevator open and close at night since we are all sound sleepers. If anyone knows of a central location to everytning/busses please let me know. Like I said I do not know the layout.

I know that check in isn't until 4pm. I called today and asked if it was possible to request early check in since we will probably arrive around 11am. The front desk informed me that if my room is available the night before they will hold it and I might be able to check in early. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

Well I think that is it.... If anyone has any tips or suggestions please please send them all.... Also, if anyone has any packing tips things that we should/should not bring. It would be most appreciated. I am usually the one that as soon as I arrive anywhere I usually always say "I should have brought that!" and "when I arrive home, I usually say "gee why did I pack that, never used it and I did not need it, it just took up space!!"

Once again, Thank you to everyone!!

All one bedrooms will have a washer and dryer. There will be a small box of detergent - enough for one load. You can buy more down at the Screen Door (right below the Villas on the Boardwalk) but the Screen Door has convience store prices.

We bring:

Mr. Coffee regular sized filters
Coffee
Salt
Pepper
Detergent
Sugar
Nesquik
Shampoo (with trash and towel so infrequently, we run out of the little Mickey Shampoo)
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Some snacks
Wine cork

We buy (we find the Screen Door marginally reasonable for getting just a few things):
half and half
Milk
Bread
Eggs

You won't need dishwasher detergent, paper towels or cleaning supplies - other than your own laundry detergent.

All one bedrooms will have the Jacuzzi tub. No worries about that.

If a room is available and clean when you get there, they will let you check into it. But I think they lied to you about holding it. I've never heard of them doing that. The room you get offered may not meet your requests - i.e. it may be far from the elevators or smoking.

Thank you sooooo much. You mentioned that you purchase some items at the "screen door" It just so happens that these are the same items that I purchased from the Disney grocery list. Is the "screen door" somewhat of a convenience store?

Yes it is. There are several things there, but it is pricey and the quantity is somewhat small (meaning small packages for a big price). Costco/Sam's Club it is not - but it is a great place if you just need a few things. I ran out of milk and I wanted some more bacon on our last trip, so it was a quick run down to the Screen Door and I was right back up stairs cooking again.

Crisi's list is very similar to ours, but we also bring some stain remover for the laundry (that Mickey bar chocolate likes to rest on shirts!)

We love BWV. We usually rent a car and stop at a grocery store on the way. If your room is not ready then they will refrigerate stuff for you until it is. The hallways are VERY long, so I hope you do manage to get somewhat close to the elevator.
Enjoy you trip!!!

:teeth: Welcome Home.

All the above is very true but, don't be discouraged if you don't get all your requests, you will still fall in love with the place.

" A bad day on vacation, is still better then a good day at work!"

When we are at BWV my wife says she is on vacation too, so no cooking and only minimum laundry.

Have fun.

We love the standard view rooms. Get some braed for your kids to feed the ducks that walk up to your door.
Have fun.
