Go tomorrow for 3 nts/4 days, stopping in the Cheyenne - can't wait :yay: Infact the only thing I aint looking forward to is setting off for Notts East Midlands airport at 02:30 tomorrow morning in order to catch our 06:55 flight! I hate you BMI for pulling the plug from Durham Tees Valley :furious:

Anyway, I digress, I need some parental advice regarding Phantom Manor. Ever since my 3 year old saw a picture of it last week she's grown some kind of fetish about it. Infact I asked her today what ride she was most looking to going on - her reply, Dumbo (No), IASW (No), I could even have lived with POTC (she went on that last year as a 2 year old and loved it!). No, you guessed, she can't wait to go on Phantom Manor. Infact, telling her that the Wicked Queen leaves there (who I know she doesn't like) has only served to enthuse her more.

So, am I being a prude parent by thinking that Phantom Manor isn't the kind of ride that I should be taking my 3 year old daughter on? I reckon if I play it by ear then the moment she sees the Manor chances are she'll change her mind anyway :scared1:

Anyone else taken young siblings on this ride, and, if so, how did they take to it? I can envisage queuing for a while, getting to the front, and then having to turn back with wailing daughter in arm.

i was like that when I was 3. I think it is good that she wants to try everything. Most of it is just in good fun anyway. My 4 yr old niece wants to go on ToT. We will let her if she is big enough. Have fun. Wish I was going.

My DD was a little older (4 1/2 years) when she went on it. After the first ride when she was a bit scared and cried we could not get her off this ride. We probably went on about 15 times during our 3 days in the park. But my DD is not phased by things like this, her favourite films are the Harry Potter films (all 4) and she really enjoyed Dr Who especially the ones with the Cybermen and Daleks.

As has been mentioned in a few post before my DD, like other children, was more freaked out by Snow White and Pinocchio rides. We are going back in 3 weeks and she is refusing point blank to go back on them.

At the end of the day you know best what is likely to upset your DD, as with most parenting go with your gut instinct I find that it is normally right!!!

I agree with Caroline. My DD is 8 and loves every ride. Me im 41 and wont set foot in PM (Im a scardy puss when its comes to ghostie type rides - LOL)

DS was 5 before he went on PM, whereas his sister was 3 and loved it but did not enjoy Snow White.

Why not ride on it yourself to see where she will possibly be most frightened and then you can talk her through it :)

My DS was 4 he loved it, but 6 months later got scared on Snow White. We did take my niece on earlier this year, she was 3 and she didn't want to go on again. It depends very much on the individual if she still wants to go on when you get there, I'd go ahead. It might be worth holding her in your arms in the stretching room, and warn her that everyone will pretend to be scared and might scream. After that I think you'll be OK anyway there's so much too look at you can distract her away from anything you think might upset her.
If you check out some of the fansites they'll give you an idea of what to expect. :)

Edited to add:
This is a good onride video, might spoil the ride for your though if you haven't ridden it before.
