I am a last minute, fly by the seat of your pants person... I generally decide and book a trip a month or two in advance! That being said we've decided to take a trip to wdw over Thanksgiving '04. Since it's around a holiday I do want to get it booked, but have no idea how to go about it so far in advance (i'm totally serious!)

We generally call and book with a code for some sort of discount. I assume calling and booking is still our best bet. I think i've heard you can later call with a code should it become available?? Sorry wasn't paying attention - never figured i'd become a planner!

Also where to eat on Thanskgiving day? And when can/should I book that??

Anyone know when the characters start wearing their "holiday" outfits (x-mas that is!) I know the decorations will be up at Thanksgiving, but we were also hoping to plan our trip to see some of the characters in their holiday wear.

Anything else I need to know booking so far in advance???::MinnieMo

Please consider using Dreams Unlimited Travel (click here). I have used them for my last several WDW vacations and they have been wonderful to work with (they are the owners of the Dis website). If a discount code becomes available, they will attempt to get it for you. If they can, they will apply the new code to your reservation immediately. This is just one of the many services that they offer for their clients. From the FAQ section of their website:

Q - How does the "Discount Checking" service work?

A - Prices and availability at Disney resorts change constantly. Prices are modified based on time of year, resort, and occupancy rates. Disney also offers special packages during slower times of the year. When you book with Dreams Unlimited Travel, there are several things we do to help you take advantage of discounts as they are offered. First, we do a routine check of your reservation every 45 days. If we find a lower price for your room, we'll convert your reservation to the lower price. Second, when specials are announced, our system automatically flags any current reservation that may be eligible. Our agents then check to see if the reservation can be converted. This applies to Magic Kingdom Club rates, Annual Passholder rates, and special packages that may be offered during the course of the year. While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to lower your rate, we will work diligently to make it happen.

As to your other question, when the decorations go up, the characters are dressed in holiday style (as is the music that gets pumped into the sound systems in the theme parks and the resorts). Disney really knows how to deck the halls, have no fear.
