My family has had a spring break trip to WDW on the books for months and with the recent legalization of gay marriage in Florida, my partner and I decided it would be the perfect time to have our legal ceremony - we live in Seattle where it has been legal for a while, but my family lives on the other side of the country and we don't get to see them often.
We just booked our Escape venue and it is super last minute and a lot to plan but luckily Disney takes care of a lot of that! Still, I will be poking around for advice from all you knowledgeable folks!

That is awesome! Can't wait to hear all about it. Let us know if you have any questions (Disney really does all the work, though).

That's so exciting! Congrats and I hope you share your day with us further!

thanks everyone! we picked Sea Breeze Point at the Boardwalk. i grew up in NJ so i'm hoping to snag some really classic photos on the boardwalk. preferably with ice cream cones :)
i'm waiting to touch base with my coordinator, so of course i'm full of questions. we are going with a (subtle) "up" theme (ie our ring bearer and flower boy will be wearing neckties and suspenders, our attendants will be in neckerchiefs and sashes) but i'm wondering how much of my own decor i can bring in. we have a "my adventure book" guestbook and instant cameras for folks to take pictures with, carl & ellie's chairs for a cake topper, a mini mailbox like the one in the movie and some really cute favor boxes. i'd love to get a couple bunches of balloons too. does anyone know what the rules are around that stuff? we're considering a dessert party but since we are headed to the hoop dee doo that night i'm not sure we will need the extra food! i'm worried that our hour will just fly by. if the weather is nice i know we can hang out on the boardwalk, and we made a reservation at the captain's grille just in case.
eeeeeek i'm so excited!

You might consider doing the dessert party the night before. We did that & it was the perfect "kick off" to our wedding :)

Those types of things are OK for you to bring in yourself, but you may have to designate a member of your party to set them all up. You can get balloons delivered by the Disney Florist (via your Escape floral planner), and they should be able to take your cake topper in advance and set it on the cake for you.

There is no longer a $7,500 minimum when you add a catered event to an Escape Collection wedding or vow renewal.

That sounds way too adorable!!! Congrats and I hope it's a beautiful day!!

thanks for the info @lurkyloo ! that definitely changes things. i'm also thinking about heading to the fountain if the weather goes bad - i suspect i'll have way too much adrenaline for anything more than stealing a few of someone's fries and maybe a milkshake :)
what i love about the boardwalk is that i grew up in NJ and my boo grew up in Wisconsin, so the boardwalk + ice cream cones is sort of perfect for us!

Please post pics and a report. Sounds wonderful!

I LOVE YOUR UP IDEA!!! That is super sweet & cute!! Definitely want to see pics!!
Yea, I'm wondering how much outside stuff we can do as well. I'm thinking on Hoop Dee Doo for our "dinner reception" but still tossing a few ideas around.

I'm tagging this thread to follow along.

Congrats! I hope your planning goes well! My wife and I have a trip in three weeks at WDW to celebrate our now legal in FL marriage! So excited that FL a marriage equality state!

Hi everyone! We just got our LOA today and I'm waiting to touch base with someone about a few things and then we will be signing and well on our way!
I found a video of Sea Breeze Point online and it's so lovely! I didn't realize quite how in the middle of things it is, but I'm hoping that doesn't get in the way of snagging some nice family photos.

My BFF was married at SBP. For your whole idea theme is spot on for this location. Also you may get a nice gentle breeze in the pavilion, which will be so nice with the humidity in Florida. It's absolutely beautiful. In my opinion,
you really don't need a lot of decorations to make it beautiful. It's a lovely place for a wedding. I'm not choosing it only because my BFF was married there, and she's now going thru a heartbreaking divorce. So I don't want to
bring up any memories. Plus, it's not my husband & me.
Don't be worried about on lookers/passer by's. The wedding planner will pretty much move them along or ask them to be respectful & quiet. My BFF didn't have any issues at all with people. And you're going to have amazing photos!
I'm here on the east coast, so I totally understand the whole boardwalk. The beach isn't a beach without one!
