Last Minute FP+?

Hi everyone!
I won't be staying on a Disney hotel during my trip (Dec 20-Jan 3) what means I was only able to choose FP+ options on the 30-day window...
For the Holiday season...
I should've expected that several popular attractions were already unavailable (7DMT,FEA,FoP) by the time my window had opened. I was still able to book some, but even at 7AM EST sharp those I mentioned were already over. My hopes are now of being lucky and getting some last minute fastpasses.
My question is, have any of you ever managed to do this? What about in a crowded time as the end of the year? Should I get over it and give up?

Yes, I get same day FP+ all the time, even literally 5 minutes ahead of time. HOWEVER...during the holiday weeks, it is much, much more difficult. We were just there for Thanksgiving week (got home last night) and will be back during Xmas...nearly identical dates to your trip. We also stay offsite, so we have a 30 day window. To make it worse, since we're AP holders, we can only have 7 days of FP+ in any 30 day window. So for our upcoming 11 day Xmas trip, I can only book days 1-7 at 30 days. Days 8-11 have to be done only one week in advance.

For FoP, your odds are probably about .0001%. It's very, very unlikely during the holidays. It would be a Xmas miracle if you get one. For the other rides, definitely possible. We got a lot of rides last minute this past week...Navi, TT, BTMRR, Space Mountain, Splash, EE, etc... Don't expect to get whatever you want whenever you want it, but all hope isn't lost. It may be hard, but be persistent and you'll get plenty.
