Last Minute Cancellations?

So we just changed our weekend trip from December 17th-19th to December 10th-12th. Had no issues getting our DAH tickets moved over and our park reservations secured. Was able to modify our flights easy peasy. The hotel is the issue -- we had Pop for two nights with our AP discount. I called and the only thing they have available as of today is Gran Destino Tower. While I would love to stay there, it's an additional $300. We could swing it, but I'd really not like to pay more if possible. I went ahead and had the CM book it for us since we can always cancel and book offsite, which is also not ideal since we would like to have book our ILL$ at 7am.

I plan on checking each day to see if a Pop suddenly has availability. Am I getting my hopes up or is there a chance I might catch a last minute cancellation?

I'd say it couldn't hurt to keep checking everyday. I'd do it multiple times a day, too not just in the morning. I would have your backup plan secured (whether that be grand destino or off site) but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. Things come up last minute all the time so it's probably just going to be about being diligent in checking. I would also check with Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista. My bf and I stayed there in 2019 when we couldn't get any other room since it was the princess run, but it's still on property and we were able to enjoy the perks of staying at a Disney resort. Not sure if that means you can book LL early, but worth a shot.

Anything with a package would be in penalty phase. I *think* room only is a 5-day policy. So there's a chance, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

A Pop room magically appeared out of thin air this afternoon for the exact dates we wanted! Was only $10 / night more. Was able to change it today and feel so much better. ☺
