Last minute booking tips needed

Hi all -

A child at my son's school has cancer that has recently returned. The family is hoping to make a trip to Disney - and go big - because this is now the second time the cancer has returned. It's just heartbreaking.

I'd like to use my gagillion languishing points to book a room for them, but have never done a last minute booking. As far as I can see online, only Saratoga Springs has availability within the next 30-60 days (which may be too late...). Does member services have any other inventory? Can I use my points to book a cash room somewhere else? I have 1100 points to work with, without borrowing.

Any and all advice is welcome. I just want to help make this child's last few months something special.

My daughter booked a last minute trip once and only Art of Animation family suites were available at the time. It's not the best use of points but she did it and I think she had to pay a $90 booking fee maybe? But yes, you can find something I'm sure if that's what you want to do. Just call MS and see what's available for the dates you want and they can probably work something.

Honestly, I'd rather a Saratoga 1BR than an AOA suite.

But either way, points trades to rooms requires qualified points. No resale after something like 2011. So assume it can only be direct points. And the Rule of Four applies: You cannot book and travel on the Disney Collection within the last 4 months of your Use Year.

If it were me I would call Member Services and ask them if they can work any of their Disney Magic. Maybe under the circumstances they may be able to pull from their inventory that they rent out for cash. Not sure if that is possible but you won’t know unless you try. FYI - It’s very generous of you to do this.

Looks like there’s some 1bds at SSR, which might actually be really nice (and do generous of you). Do you know when or if they can fly down or get there?

That’s a long stretch in the beginning and middle of July….

There's limited theme park reservations too. Disney isn't very friendly to last minute trips.

this 100% sure you can get a room and tickets but being able to acually get into the parks is another story
