Last minute bag check question

So I know there's been a thread about what to put in your bag already, but I was wondering about cell phones. I know they don't want you putting valuables in there, but isn't it hard to find family, etc. without one? Should I leave it in the room?

I've never had a problem leaving my cell phone in my bag. I stick it in the pocket of some other clothing so it's not visible. I also make sure I tie a good knot to keep my bag from accidentally opening until I get back to it.

I'm actually going to take my cell and call my family at mm7 so they can hopefully get into position on Main Street to see me. I'm lucky that my New Balance shorts fit my phone in the back pocket to where I don't even feel it.

I actually got this little wallet/phone arm band from Nike a few years ago. I usually throw my license, debit card, and phone in there every time I go for a run in case I need something. I think it was around $10 or something. I plan on wearing that when I run the Princess.

I always carry my cell phone with me. I have a pouch I wear around my waist to carry my gels, camera, phone, a few dollars, room key. I always like to be able to call my husband during the race so he knows I am coming up to where he is cheering from. It also helps towards the end when I give him a heads up that I am coming, and he looks for me at the finish.

Personally, i wouldn't leave my phone in the bag check. Last year was the first time I checked a bag during the half and it was a nightmare. People were just walking in the back and taking bags, there was no secure way of getting it.

I have had my cell phone in my bag for every race I have done. Just have it wrapped in something soft (like a shirt) and you should be fine.

Having worked a few baggage checks, having a cell phone in your bag is actually a good idea in the event your baggage claim tag gets separated from your bag. We've called a few bags before in order to locate them.

I have a spi-belt and plan on putting my cell phone in there.
