Do any of you intend to lock your suitcases for the outbound flight, or does it have to be the same as for the return flight, ie unlocked for TSAsearch if necessary? I want to put cable ties around our cases but don't want to waste any on the outbound if it's ok to lock them up! Thanks for any advice! :thumbsup2

By the way . . . . WE GO TOMORROW!!!

When I flew to NY last month I had put a lock on without a combination but I didn't get it back on the case as my luggage went walkabout. I was advised the airlines don't like it.

John

I use TSA approved locks on both journeys, have a great time :thumbsup2

We always lock our cases, do not have TSA locks - never had any problems.

Samsonite cases aren't always compatible with TSA locks Sue so they realli aren't an option! Anyway, I've taken the plunge and cable-tied the whole kit and caboodle! There isn't anything of great value in them at the mo and I'm more concerned about the return journey when we'll have loads of goodies aboard! Thanks everyone for your info!! :thumbsup2

We hadn't got any locks on ours and they still managed to rip one open all down the side. We are going to try to claim for a new one. Wouldn't mind but they had the cheek to put tape all round it after they had ripped it.

I didn't realise that you had to lock cases. What about the insurance, are we covered if clothes go missing? :confused3
