Last minute ADRs

If you are walking around in a park and decide to try and get a last minute ADR, what phone number should you call? I'm thinking it would be easier to make a call on my cell phone than wait in a line to try and get an ADR in person. Would I call the main Disney # and talk to dining or is there a more efficient # to call?

I've done the main Disney # before while staying at a resort up to just hours before we wanted to go to dinner. . .and it worked fine. Naturally, it all depends on the availability at the particular restaurant in which you wish to dine.

I think I called 407-WDW-DINE. I was sitting on a bench outside Test Track, and I called and made and ADR for The Coral Reef for about an hour later!!! It was in September, a very slow time.

We have done it many times for that day or the next day. We just asked "what time can we get into __________." There are so many great places, if one is full we just asked about another one we wanted to try.

I don't know if it would be that easy during "Free Dining"... and it's certainly not as easy at all restaurants but we've always been able to get in somewhere.
