Last Disney Day and the Stomach Bug

ARGH!

Our family of 5 has struggled with a headcold/fever/flu all trip long. We did pretty well, just taking long breaks and making sure to get lots of sleep and water. We washed our hands alot, and used lots of hand sanitizer. Today is our last day and we awoke to DD12 throwing up and DD3 followed along shortly.

Can the day be salvaged at all? I am actually considering going into the parks by myself, but I am afraid of also starting to get sick and then having to get myself back. Not to mention spreading germs. I HATE GERMS. But, this is also our last trip for a few years. My heart is sad. Trying to just be thankful for the time we had...but I want my last day back!

Aww, there's nothing worse than being sick on vacation! But you can see exactly how it happens. Nobody wants to stay in their room even if they're sick. Your whole family has perpetuated it by going out when you were sick and spreading YOUR germs around. And since you're already in a weakened state, you're vulnerable to other germs, so you picked up the stomach bug.

Believe me, this is not a condemnation. We did the same thing a few weeks ago. My DGD was sick for the first three days--nothing big, a cold with an awful cough and we took her to the parks. You're not going to stay in the room when you've paid thousands of dollars and only have a few days. We heard tons of kids coughing, just like her.

I'm here now with DH and the coughing epidemic seems to be better. Sorry to hear the stomach bug is making its rounds.

Hope you get out a little today, but honestly, I also hope I'm not standing to close to you lol!

Exactly! We are actually VERY careful with germs. My son has an immune issue, so we know how to handle them properly. LOTS of coughdrops, proper coughing technique, washing hands at every bathroom, staying clear of crowds when possible, hand sanitizer, etc...When it was a cold, I didn't worry as much about it. People can keep moving with a cold. You don't stay in, while on a vacation THIS expensive, for a cold. Stomach bug...that's a different story. That is why, even though no one has gotten sick for a little while, we still probably won't go out. I hate the idea of ruining someone else's vacation...just so we can finish out our trip the way we wanted.

Maybe we will all get dressed and go take our picture at something Disney looking...so we can at least have a photo of our last day. Something about a condo with sickies, doesn't feel Disney.
