We'll be on our very first WDW Vacation in about a week: Dec 8 -12 We went ahead and got 5-day Hopper Passes. On our last day our plane is scheduled for 7:58 pm so I'm guessing DME will be arriving around 5-ish. Any recommendations as to what to do that last day with the time we have??

On our last day, we usually wake up late, pack up the luggage, and check our bags with DME (airport check-in usually closes by 1 PM or so). We then go to Downtown Disney and get lunch and shop... pick up whatever we passed on at the parks.

Sometimes we'll schedule the latest breakfast possible at one of the monorail resorts--- O'hana at the Poly, Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, or 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. We just take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then get on the monorail to the hotel. Following breakfast, we'll tour the resort and then take a couple loops on the monorail-- usually it's not too busy and we ask to sit in the front. If there's lot of time, then we switch and ride the Epcot loop too. I love seeing Epcot from the monorail!

We take it easy and rarely go into a park on the last day. I get too worried about getting stuck and not making the DME bus!

Have a great trip! I wish I was going to Disney!

Yes, check out any resorts that you didn't check out before, DTD for anything you may have missed, play mini golf, definetly sleep late, ride that monorail for the last time and get teary as you see the Castle for the last time...have a very magical and blessed time....

We're planning on having Breakfast at Chef Mickey's and taking a leisurely trip to the different hotels to view all their holiday Displays. The Beach Club Resort has a life-size gingerbread Carrousel and winter scene and the Grand Floridian does a two story Gingerbread house (similar in size to a child's playhouse) that I'm dying to see. Every year the food network has a special about it and I'm so excited I finally get to smell that gingerbread in person! :)

On past trips we've saved Downtown Disney for our first or last half day so we don't have to buy an extra day, but since you paid the extra money for the 5th day, I would get up early and go ahead and use it to see your most favorite park again and pick up any attractions you missed the first time around. :)

We usually have a late flight on our last day also. We have choosen to go to the park and do a few last minute rides. With catching ME at 5, we have gone to the MK until 3 and gotten back to the hotel around 3:30. Both times we have done this we have actually taken an earlier ME bus to the airport (after asking the ME driver if there was room).

We usually eat at our hotel, then head to MK for last call on funnest rides. In 06 we were able to stay on thunder mt. rr 5 times before we decided to hit pirates aor 2 times. we then just slowly make our way back to main street. stopping and looking at anything that catches our eye. We usually have lunch at Tony's and go to the hotel for ME. Have a great time!1

I just made my airline reservations for my October trip (woo hoo!), and was just about to post the same question. Am looking forward to everyone's suggestions - my flight doesn't leave until 6:25 pm, so I have lots of time that day to do something fun!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

We go in October every year and also always take last flight out DME picks us up around 5:15 so we head over to EPCOT for one final ride on Soarin and Test Track and doing one more round of the Food & Wine booths and last minute shopping. It always seems no matter how much I purchase I always find something else! Or, one last visit to MK, go on your favorite rides, pick up a cinimmon danish at the main street bakery to bring home for the next morning.

In 5 days there will be something you missed. For instance last year we had done DHWS but got so caught up with RNRC and TOT that we missed the LMA and Indiana Jones Shows. So, on our last day we went back and caught these great shows. My advice, leave the last day a blank on your itnerary. Maybe Pirates is broken down when your in the MK and you want to go back to hit it, or the line for Toy Story was just too long so you decide to make rope drop and be the first ones there. Anyway, my point is leave yourself some room to adapt and that last day is the perfect opportunity.

I agree with Spectromax! It's nice ot have that day as a buffer, if things just don't work out as planned... I always get the last flight out at night I can find, and spend the last day revisitint the favorites and doing anything we might have missed out on during our trip. Good luck, have a great time! :)

Our plane leaves at 7:10. I was planning on us packing up the night before (most of it anyway) and heading to AK first thing. Figured there would be enough time for that. Any other suggestions? Should we try to fit it in a half day earlier in our trip if possible? Mornings are pretty well planned out for us, evenings, not so much. The last time we were in the world was 2005 before EE so the kids want to do that but not too much else in AK. We are getting PH and have 7 day MYW. There from Feb 6 - 13.

I always try for the last flight of the day/evening for going home. I treat it just as any other day, although on the last day I always have a funny feeling about having to go home.

As on any day, keep in mind that flitting from one park to another to get in one last ride here, one last photograph there, will consume a lot of time traveling. If you do this, don't actually expect to accomplish much.

Don't cut things too close for Magical Express. Aim to be back at your resort an hour before bus time, or 1-1/2 hours if you have to get back baggage from the bellhop. Less chance for anxiety. Chances are you won't actually get back to the resort that soon due to bus delays, last minute bathroom breaks, etc. My experience has been that bus service back from Downtown Disney is more erratic and/or spotty; if still true I can't understand why.

If your last activity would be a meal, consider doing that at the airport. This way you have more time for rides, etc. and even less anxiety about missing your plane. A request for an earlier (3-1/2 or even 4 hours in advance of flight) bus back to the airport is always granted when made the usual minimum one day in advance of checkout.

1. Stayout very late the night before you leave
2. Sleep in - our only chance on the entire vacation
3. Pack and check our bags in at the desk
4. Chef Mickey very late breakfast - this year it is at 11am
5. DTD for souvinor shopping. We always save our "Big" purchases for the last day.
6. Hang out in DTD - relax
7. Catch ME home

WE never go to the parks on the last day. It is always a nice day to relax before the stress of flying home comes.

We rent a boat from one of the DVC resorts on out last morning for a few hours and then afterward we go to DTD.
