Hello all I am looking for some advice if any fellow Disers have had Laser eye surgery , I have worn glasses since I was about 12 and am now 37 and can not see with our glasses and my dad has offered to pay for me to have my eyes done . What I want to know if anyone has had it done is it really as good as they say on there adverts , and does it hurt and does it last

I had my laser eye surgery done about ten years ago. I am still seeing almost perfectly, except that I sometimes need reading glasses, but there's nothing that can be done about that.

The procedure itself was pretty painless. I slept the whole night after the surgery and was seeing perfectly the morning after.

After a few years, my right eye got a tiny bit blurry, but not enough to warrant a touch up procedure.

It was the best thing I did for myself. You'll be very happy with it. :goodvibes

My friend had it done a couple of years ago and she is really happy with it, she has perfect vision now and didn't seem to be in any pain after having it done. :thumbsup2

I had my eyes done about a year and half ago. I am older (now 58) and had worn glasses/contacts since junior high. I was fearful before surgery that there would be damage and I would somehow come out worse off that I was. I looked into many doctors in our area, visited their offices (no charge for first visit) to see how I liked them and made my choice that way. DO NOT look for the cheapest option!!! It's a bonus if the doctor you chose has a great price, but do you want to shop for a surgeon by cost?

It is painful after surgery (like having grit in your eyes) but it lasts only about 4 hours. I went home and took a nap and woke up to perfect vision. I was told I would probably need reader glasses after the surgery and I do wear them occasionally.

I wish I had done this years earlier!

thanks everyone for your advice ,I have booked some consultations in the next couple of weeks so I will let you know .

Just a word of earning that the price of £395 per eye is never one that you get quoted. My friend paid £4k to have hers done but she did have problems with her sight before surgery. When she mentioned the adverts they even admitted they could never do it at that price.
