My family and i are looking into visiting Vegas in October. My last trip was planned with the help of my disboard friends. Any info at all is appreciated.. We plan on attending some shows and would like to stay at the most affordable hotel on the strip.
Thanks for all you input
:yay::yay:;)

Most affordable hotels on the Strip would be The Quad; north Strip gives you Circus Circus, Riviera, or the Stratosphere.

Shows, use Tix4Tonite for half price day-of tickets. Locations all up and down the Strip. Don't expect to see the tier one shows at a dramatic discount, if any.

Always ask about discounts. I once saw Penn & Teller "free", for donating blood. If that discount is available, you'd need a car since a taxi would probably cost more than any savings.

Always ask about discounts. I embarrassed my dbf until the cashier told him using my AAA card would save us $300 on the tickets we were buying!:cool1:

if you are on a budget, rule #1 is to plan a trip between sunday and thursday nights. hotel prices typically get jacked up 3x or more for fri-sat nights.

there are several decent hotels on the strip - i'd probably go with bally's or harrah's for cheap but decent. i stayed at the quad a few years ago when it was the imperial palace and wouldn't recommend it for the most part...but if price is the biggest consideration, it is in a very good location.

i'd stay away from circus circus, too far away and some pretty bad reviews. the north part of the strip is pretty dead.

i agree that http://www.tix4tonight.com/ is a great option for show deals.

Try not to buy anything in the hotels. A bottle of water from the vending machine down the hall at MGM was $3. The same bottle of water was 50 cents at the cheap touristy gift shop just outside the hotel. It was basically a ploy to lure you in since you had to walk to the very back of the shop to get to the water. But, it was worth it for that much of a savings! Also, make sure you know the prices before ordering anything. We walked into a shop where ice cream was $4 a scoop! That can add up quickly for a family of four.

I used to go to Vegas a lot because a relative was living there. I flew United, and there were at least three times that booking a package deal with hotel included was CHEAPER that just the airfare (cheaper only by $5 to $10 dollars, but that still meant FREE hotel.) I wouldn't count on that, but I would at least check if you are flying. If that didn't work, I normally used Travelocity to find out what was cheapest for the time I was there (they seem to sort of rotate being the cheapest - what was the cheapest for one trip would have much higher prices 6 months later.)

We played the games at MyVegas (free) to "win" comps at the MGM affiliated casinos. I was just my husband and I but we each had an account and used it to get:

BOGO Premium seats for LOVE (Cirque de Soliel)
Two free lunch buffets (incl. cheap wine/beer) at Cravings buffet in the Mirage
Entree BOGO at Nine Fine Irishmen
$25 Dining Credit at NFI
BOGO lunch buffet at The Buffet at the Bellagio

I used SkyAuction to purchase a week in a 1BR at Wyndham Grand Dessert for $250 and our flights were free thanks to bumps by Southwest last winter. We spent most of our time visiting National Parks (Zion and Death Valley) so it was a surprisingly cheap trip.

Highly recommend MyVegas!

I went a few years ago through Delta. I paid about $500 per person for a room and flight, double occupancy. We also got tickets to a show included. We picked The Beatles Love Cirque Du Soliel. It was awesome! The hotel we stayed in was New York New York. It has the roller coaster on the top. It was a fun place to stay.

How many nights are you staying? Do you have a car? I stay at the Desert Rose which is located right behind the Tropicana and Hooters. It is in walking distance To MGM, NYNY and other ones.

They have one and two bedrooms, the couch is also a bed. They have free breakfast everyday. It has a pool and jacuzzi. A work out room. Full kitchens as well. Laundry room. It is quiet. Not far from the airport.

You have the M&M store, Coca Cola store which is fun to shop and look through. Some of the hotels have things out front to watch that is free. Belagio has the dancing waters. Inside Belagio they have the conservation area which is located near check in , you can see flowers, they change it up all the time. Take pictures as well. Then just right around the corner from it they have a huge chocolate fountain and a bakery attached. YUMMY stuff to choose from.

Cesears is a huge one for shopping and they even have a shop that has chocolate with bacon. The Venetian is so nice for the shopping and has the gondola ride inside and out. Then on the Palazzo side , if you are interested in books, you can see so many first edition books. This is the store that the Pawn stars use for giving them prices on the books they get. Pawn stars is fun, just don't go until after 3, as the line is long.

You can take the Duece bus up and down the strip and it will also take you to freemont st, old downtown. They have a zip line. The rio also has a zip line. The Rio also has great buffet as well.

Hook up with group on and living socials for all kinds of things in vegas. Including food. Sometimes they have it for the buffets.

Stratosphere is fun to watch the rides from out side. It costs to go to the top.

The Quad is now the remodeled Linq & is no longer coming up as the cheapest. I would avoid the other 3 above--you will eat up any savings cabbing it all over. Even with a car, the other 3 are definitely 2 star properties.

Currently the best priced hotel on the strip is likely the Excalibur. Ballys, Harrahs, Monte Carlo & Flamino are all good choices as well--very centrally located. Choose one of those if they are comparable to Excalibur prices, or a tad more.

Buy an American Casino Guide for many coupons for a variety of needs.

Check out groupons & Living Social deals for Vegas. Travelzoo also has lots of great deals on hotels, dining & shows.

MyVegas is great, but you don't have much time to do much with it.
