Larrys Wonderful World Trip Report Day 11
Dear Friend.
Good Morning, I hope you slept well and had pleasant dreams, well those naughty people in the time department stole an hour from us, so I didnt wake up until seven twenty, which was really six twenty, so I didnt blame myself for the lie in. But there was no time to go for my customary walk around the resort, hopefully normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
We had arranged last night to go to Disneys MGM Studios to meet the rest of the gang. Some were coming at ten and the early birds at nine. We met on time and Jill, Greg and Ed went and did Rock n Roller Coaster and got some fastpasses. Kim, Chris and myself went and did the Tower of Terror, there was a bit of a line, but we got into the Library OK, and through into the boiler room, but not long after we got in the line down there, the Right hand side elevators, were mysteriously affected by dark forces, (It broke down!) and the people lined up there came into our elevators so we had a bit of a break, but it was pleasant enough chatting about life the universe and everything, so we didnt mind waiting for our turn.
The ride was as fun as usual and we got some nice air time. And it was a different combination of events in the lift shaft to what I have done before. After the ride we met up with the Rock and Roller Guys, and we shared fastpasses around, Jill and Ed went to TOT, Chris and Greg went to RnRC, Kim went looking for Poos and I went for a walk, having missed my morning perambulate, so I spent fifteen minutes walking up New York Street, to look at the construction work, on the Motors Action Show, they have built the frame of the stadium but it looks a long way from finished, they have also re-modelled the Back Lot Tour, with a tram turning circle. A cast member told me the Back Lot Tour wos open today and we were going to ride it, but it seemed temporarily closed all morning so we didnt get a go.
We met up with the lie in people at 10 and went for the 10-30 Who Wants to be a Millionaire Show, this turned out to be a quite interesting show, and I think we could have legitimately changed it to Which Wilmot wants to be a Millionaire. Because, Gregory won the Fastest Finger Round, and he got into the Hot Seat, and he did great, great use of his lifelines, but he had a dork, for a complete stranger. He lost out on the 16k question which was too American. But he got the hat and pins, and did wonderfully well. You dont know how scary being in the hot seat is until you get there, it is much worse than answering the questions in the audience.
Anyway, Greg was in Seat 138, and when they did the top of the leader board to choose the next question, the person in the top slot, was in seat 139. You have guessed it, yup, Yours Truly. The audience seemed to enjoy this, and I went down for my fourth trip to the hot seat, not my best effort Im afraid, I got the Hat and Pins, and I would have had to hide in shame if I hadnt. I got beaten on the 8K question, having lost to a question on the Golden Girls, (Makes a change from Nancy Drew) but getting on with Greg in the same show, was so cool, I didnt care. They took us both into the prize room together and that was nice too.
Later in the day, I found out that Chris had gotten into the hot seat too on a separate show, and Kim had been the Complete Stranger, I think our gang not only likes WWTBAM but we are quite good at it too. Still thats Greg, Chris and I banned for 30 days so the cruise will have to wait until July.
We decided to do some of the other rides in MGM as well this morning, so we did the Great Movie Ride, I particularly enjoyed the movie section at the end, and even the actors were not quite as lame as they usually are, today. There wasnt much of a queue but it was building up as we waited. It is amazing how a queue can go from 10 minutes to 45 minutes in no more than a shake of a Lambs tail. As they say, one tour group can seriously spoil your day
We also did Sounds Dangerous, I quite enjoyed that, I think its attraction is not so much the storyline or even Drew Carey but the fact that you get to sit in the dark, for 10 minutes, I always find it restful and people were making comments about having almost fallen asleep. Anyway I like the hairdressing bit, it always makes me smile, (Yes I do smile, but not of photographs!)
After this it was time for our Priority Seating, at an old faithful, The 50s Prime Time Café, if you have never been here, and maybe you have if so, please be patient with me, but it is set in the 50s there is your cousin who is your waiter/waitress, you are not allowed to put the old elbows on the table and miscreants will be made to sing Im a little Teapot, eat there greens off the fork by the waiter doing a choo choo train, or even worse being made to wear an Ariel Bib, (I wouldnt mind that.) Anyway, It was a pleasant combination of time with friend and some fun. I always like eating there. I had half an order of Onion Rings, and fried chicken with mash and green beans. (When in the South etc.)
When walking around I saw a poster for the Alamo, I have heard that that is a great film, but it comes out the day we arrive home, so I guess I will have to wait for it to come out in Britain, like sometime never . Still it will give me time to brush up on my Texas History.
Ed, Chris, Greg and Kim did the RnRC on fastpass, and I found a hidden Mickey in Studio C . Yippeee. My second new one of the trip, I also found one in Spaceship Earth. And that was the mornings entertainment, beats a boring Sunday cutting the grass.
Ive spent the afternoon, reading my email and writing the TR, and just relaxing, though I Think that I may have nodded off a little bit, just for thirty minutes or so.
We went to Downtown Disney about six thirty and walked from Disney Quest to the Market Place, and had a look at the new Earl of Sandwich, it seemed to do nice sandwiches, but there was a very long queue, and the sandwiches didnt look that good. The merchandise was strange all British Union Jacks etc, I know the Earl of Sandwich was British, just imagine if he invented rubber boots and Wellington invented bread with meat in the middle, you would be wearing your sandwiches on your feet and eating a Tuna on Rye Wellington. Anyway, I suspect that Disneys Discount shops will have some new T-shirts quite soon for all your Anglophiles friends to buy cheap soon.
We also had a bit of a nosey at some of the other shops. I looked in the Magic Shop, because Ed has been talking about it a lot, and it was fun watching them do some tricks, but what I thought was interesting was the price of the magic tricks, wow some of them are over $100 and just a simple trick of putting a pen through a bank note, costs $24. They can certainly make your money disappear before your very eyes, Poooof. Its Gone!!
We picked Ed up at Eight and went to the Comedy Warehouse where we did one show, which was a bit lukewarm and we said our goodbyes to Sue, it has been great spending a couple of days with her, and we only have to wait until July to see her again, for a nice Meal au t LeCellier.
And that was the end of a fun day.
Thanks for reading this far. Hope I didnt show off about WWTBAM too much. But three people in our Gang in the Hot Seat in one day is a bit of a record even for us.
See you tomorrow first thing.
Cheers Larry.
Your Pal in Scotland.
