Next March, I will be traveling to Disney with my family and in-laws. There will be a total of nine of us. If I make reservations at the 180 day mark, will it be difficult to find reservations for a group that large?

Thanks!

I booked for a party of 11 last summer and got everything I wanted. I ended up having to call because the website wasn't working. So, I lost an hour, but it still worked out fine.

Yes
You are better off calling or splitting into smaller groups and book 2 ADR's near the same time. You may be able to sit together by asking when you arrive. But it is not guaranteed.

I just booked for a party of 13 for this summer and got almost everything on line (including BOG). The only reservations that I couldn't get were Sanaa, Beaches and Cream and Garden Grill. I called and got all three. Some of the tough ones I got were Ohana, BOG, Chef Mickeys, Sci Fi and H&V Fantasmic package. Have fun!

That's impressive! What's your secret? I have a hard time finding things for my family of 5!

I am not sure - I definitely start on the 180 day as soon as the online is available. We are going at the end of August so maybe that has something to do with it. But I also have done parties of 8-10 in February with no problem.

That give me some hope. We have never booked far enough ahead to start looking for reservations at the 180 mark, so I've never had experience doing it like this. I hope doing it at 180 at 6 am will give me the chance to get the ones we want!

Oh you will get it. Start with the reservations that are most important and go from there. When I didn't book that far in advance I was able to get reservations closer to the date - sometimes while I was in DW. I got Akershus and BOG several times while I was already in DW. Good luck!

Nine is not a large group. It is bigger than the average. You may have to split the party at some restaurants that don't have large enough tables listed.

We are a party of 8 and could not get a Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood & Vine for the time we wanted even at the 180 mark.
Everything else, we got close to the time we wanted.

Definitely depends on where. In the Terms Checkbox for some of my ADRs, it said explicitly they cannot accommodate groups over size X. Sometimes X was 20, sometimes X was 8.

I think for most of the ADR's the OP will be fine and be able to get most of their choices.

I am heading to Disney next month with a total of 8 of us going; when I was at my 180 day mark I was able to get ADR's for just about everything I wanted online without any problems. The only one I had any challenge with was Narcoossee's (my favorite restaurant). We were not able to book online since it doesn't handle more than 6 on the website. I called Disney and was given the number to Narcoossee's direct. I left a message and they called me back the next day and I was able to get our ADR. The only problem is that they do not seat parties our size other than when they first open at 5:30 pm. I guess if I had a separate MDE and so did my wife we could have each made an ADR and hope we could be seated near each other but I didn't want to risk it and would rather know we were all seated together.

Sorry, I also asked this question on another thread, but for the Fantasmic dinner package, can you do it on line or do you need to call?

TIA,

Karen

You can do it online. We were able to get the dinner package online for one day at 2:45. We were really wanting something for around 4-4:30. It was available for smaller parties but not 8.

I just did a party of 11. We got all the restaurants, but we have quite a few 4:30 dinners, which is not ideal

We are a party of 16 going in May. I called Disney Dining prior to the 180 day mark and told the CM what restaurants we wanted to dine at. The CM told me which ones I could book online, gave me a direct phone number for one that I couldn't book online. I was also given advice on how to book BOG because you can only do an ADR for 10.

Maybe my yes earlier was too quick. Many restaurants can accommodate 9.
But no way is 4:30 acceptable to me for dinner.

So if I want to book the Fantasmic dinner package I can do it at MDE but how does the system know that I want to book the Fantasmic dinner package as opposed to just booking a dinner?
TIA,

Karen

I booked for a party of 9 last May and got pretty much everything I wanted. We did: HDDR, Turf Club (last minute as we were staying at SSR), Flying Fish, Hollywood Brown Derby, Prime Time Café, 1900 Parkfare, O'Hana, Crystal Palace (PPO), Kona, Akershus, Via Napoli, and a few others. I was on MDE a lot looking for and changing reservations.

It is a specific meal choice. You book the "Fantasmic Dining Package". If you just book dinner at one of the included restaurants, it is NOT the package and you will not get seats to the theatre
