We have 4 adults and two children (6 total people) going to Disney in Sept/Oct of 2009. We would like to stay in a Deluxe resort and I know that some of them don't have rooms for larger families. So does anyone have recommendations on where we should start? :)

We were a group of 6 last year, and we stayed in a 2-bedroom Beach Club Villa. There is a king bed in one bedroom, and 2 beds (queen I think) in the other. The bedrooms are seperated by a living room/kitchen area, and each has their own bathroom. We actually rented points from a DVC member, and it cost us the same amount as 2 moderate rooms would have.

October is a great time to be at the Beach Club, as you are a quick stroll from the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. I love being able to munch my way around the World Showcase!:goodvibes

The standard rooms even at the deluxe resorts only accomodate 5 guests (ages 3+). Your choices for 6 would include a WL junior suite, FW cabin, 2 bedroom villa, AllStar Family suite and other 2 bedroom suites that will probably cost a small fortune. You may want to consider the villa if you do want to share one room and a few of the deluxes do offer them.

I like this site, http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/disney-rates-2007.htm . You can scroll right down the list of all the Disney accomodations and see what the maximum occupancy is per room.

Depending on the ages of the kids, you can fit 4 adults and two 1-3 year olds in a Deluxe room (2 adults and 1 child per queen bed). We've done this the last 3 trips and it's worked out great. In the future, we'll add an air matress if needed, but for now this works great for us.:upsidedow

The most inexpensive Deluxes are AKL and WL. The prices start at $225.00 for a standard view room which is great at AKL. If you stay during Value season when it's slow, as long as you don't go during any promotions such as free dining or upgraded tickets, you will have a better than average change of getting a possible upgrade to a savannah view room.

We will be arriving at the CR resort in 2 weeks. We have a tower room an there is 6 of us. :scared1: lol....Me and DH in one bed, DS 13 on couch bed, DD 9 and my mom in the other bed, and my DS 1 in a porta crib. Think we are pushing it? lol....The convenience of the monorail and being so close to everything outweigh of being a little cramped...and it's a dream of my son to stay there. My only worry is luggage/clothes room and showers. I already told everyone that they take their showers the night before except for me lol....I need to take my showers in the morning. Other than that...I figured I can't stress over it...we are at Disney!!!:woohoo:

The standard rooms at the WL and the AKL only accomodate 4 people. While they are considered deluxes resorts their rooms are smaller than the CR, GF, Poly etc. They do not have the day bed like the other deluxes, and the rooms are smaller. In order to have more than 4 people you would need to book a suite or stay at the villas in either of those resorts.

You can have more than 5 people if one of the occupants is 3 and under. It may be a bit cramped but I am sure you will be fine.

I would suggest Villas at Wilderness Lodge or the Beach Club Villas. Both these locations have an alternative route to a park, VWL boat to MK or BCV walk to Epcot, boat the MGM.

Taking a bus everywhere like at the Old Key West or AKV is tough especially if they are running slow. OKW is beautiful, but not really close to anything besides DTD.

the DVC resorts - OKW, SSR, VWL, BCV, BWV and the brand new AKV - you would need a 2-bedroom.

the AKV is definitely lovely and I like the interior design much better than the others. It has a flat screen TV.

the AKV 1-bedroom will take 5 people (except the value only 4) - it has a king bed, a queen sleeper sofa in the living room and also a bed chair in the livingroom.

there is also FW cabins.

these resorts will allow 5 in their regular room - so if one of the kids is under 2 - then you can stay here - CR, Polyn, GF, BWI, BC, YC

do you know which park you will stay the most - for MK - then VWL or FW cabins

epcot or studios- BWV or BCV

AK - AKV

everything then OKW or SSR will do just fine. they are not near the Theme parks but closer to DD. OKW transportation has improved greatly - since you are going in Sept/oct that is when it is at its best!!! for the food/wine festavial at Epcot.

you might consider renting points from a DVC member, as mentioned. only rent on Sun-thurs (leaving on Fri) - fri and sat are just too high to rent. - one exception if you are staying 12 days - get there on a Sunday and leave 2 weeks later on a friday.

Renting points from a DVC owner is a really good idea. We have done that the last three times and loved it. Our favorite was BCV, but we would stay at OKW again in a heartbeat.
