I'm getting my tax return soon (lol! woo.) and I'm going to buy a laptop with it. I'm always hogging the main computer with my school work and stuff, so I decided it was time to buy my own computer.

Plus, I can use it at school which would make it ten times easier to take notes.

Do you suggest any? What kind do you have? (Trying to keep the price on the lowerside.:))

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. It's alright, I like it. It crashed around December and it hasn't been the same since lol. I bought it in July, so it lasted about.. 5 months. I don't know if it was a virus, the computer itself or Vista.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000. I like it. I had one just like it before and it lasted a year and 3 months before the screen went out so I got a new one.

Dell Inspiron 1501.
$600.
I've had it for 2 years.
It's alright, it crashed once a few weeks ago, and kinda slow sometimes, but it's pretty good.

My mom is saving up to buy me a new one for college though on the $1200 side, so that we know it's good for what I want.

Mine is an HP. :) Don't remember the model type. May be the same as Laura's.
It has worked well for me. I'm hoping it'll keep up for the next 2 years and maybe get an Apple.

I have an Acer Aspire 4730. It's a nice computer, and was fairly cheap too (since I had to use my own money to buy it-and don't have much atm). It was $541.24 with tax at Office Depot and then I got a $100 mail-in rebate so it only ended up costing me $441.24.

It's a pretty good computer. Sometimes it does act up, but I think that's because of Vista tho and not the computer itself. Other than that, it works fine. It has a dual-core processor and 2 GB of memory.

I have a Macbook. Not so cheap. But its a really good computer and is immune to viruses so that will save you a lot of problems in the long run.

please don't get a mac.
i would get an hp or a compaq
those the only ones my dad trusts and he works on computers for a living

macs aren't immune to viruses, my friend got a virus on his. they just have a lesser chance of getting them. if you download the right software on the pc's you're fine.

I have a macbook...it's more on the expensive side but it's never crashed on me and I've had it for 2 years and I treat it like crap, haha.

I've had dells, hps, and compaqs and they've all crashed and burned within the 2 year period.

Its really hard to get viruses though. Really hard. And my cousin has had his mac for 6 years and its never crashed or gotten a virus. My old pc crashed twice and I only had it for about 2 years.

dont get an hp, i have one right now
and when something goes wrong its so difficult to communicate
with the people who work for HP because the company outsources which means that the people you call for assistance are from another country and it took like 2 months to get my laptop back. And same with dell thats your main computer in my house and you cant understand them at all. i would honestly get a mac they are so nice although not that cheap but they last a while and plus you can go to an apple store if anything is wrong and they help you asap, which is really nice option to have.

i got it for xmas. its my baby.

I have a Dell Vostro 1000. It's been hanging on pretty good. I got it Christmas of 2007, and it's survived falling, lotion attacks, the hospital, and my cats. Don't ask. It hasn't crashed and it's only had one virus. I'm knocking on wood as we speak.

How do those work? I was contemplating on getting one for Christmas, but I decided not to. Are they removable or are they permanent?

i have a macbook. It is more expensive than others around but its the best thing i had. I love it. It goes everywhere with me!!

I got the newest verison of the Dell Inspiron 1525. I haven't had any problems with it....yet. It's a very nice program (Vista) and runs very fast.
I got mine for Chritsmas. I love it (:

mine is permenant. its painted straight on to the top of the computer. just like you can get pink or purple computers, you can get ones with paintings on them. its just hte plastic outer shell of the computer.

It was about 1600, but that was with all of the things I added onto it (student office, macafee, more memory, theft protection, etc).
I think you can get them as low as 1000, tho. :thumbsup2
It runs on vista home premium, which is also pretty nice.

Most companies do that now.

Thanks! I'm thinking about getting that Dell Inspiron 1525.

I'm going shopping for it tomorrow. (:
