I am thinking about taking my laptop to disney with us. The reason is that both my mom and me have sony digitals cameras We are planning to buy extra memory cards. I can bring my laptop which is also sony and we can download the pics everynight instead of buying another card and hoping that we have enough memory. My mom says not to bring it. But I think has to do with a family members laptop getting stolen from college recently. ( which was replaced do to purchasing the insurance that was offered) I am not to worried about it cause I have insurance on it and I bought it a little over a year ago and hve used it maybe once or twice while studing to get my real estate appraiser license. Also it will be good on the plane for movies for the kids. Any thoughts?

We did this exact same thing in Sept. DH downloaded all of the pics each night. We got to relive the day while we rested in our hotel. DD got a kick out of it. Our laptop (17" screen) fit in the safe at POP. So it limits the risk of it being stolen.

My DH takes his laptop on every business and pleasure trip and has never had a problem. It's very useful for videos for children on the plane. Many hotels have Wi-Fi as well. If you've got the energy to pack it and use it, bring it! College dorms are notoriously unsecured; my own was pillaged during a spring break.

Have a great trip!

dh took my laptop and it was just fine........ when we went to the parks all day long we just left it sit on the table in the room... no one bothered with it at all........ vicki

Add me to the list of those who takes their laptop everywhere - I don't leave home without it :earsboy:

We bring ours too, simply for the same thing, downloading our pictures every night.

My husband went back to school and we have to take our laptop too. It was great our first Disney trip- I thought we would have to take pictures and delete some if we needed more room, but with the laptop he uploaded the photos. I think we took 800 pictures that week.

We are taking four memory cards with us. That way we have enough storage space for all the pictures. We don't have a laptop (If any one knows a good place to get an inexpensive one, please pm) I would think it would be a good idea and should be safe in the room. Just put it in your luggage!

Left two on the table inour room at allstar movies. No problems. Also you can burn a CD every day or two for added backup of priceless photos.

I've been taking my laptop to WDW with me on every trip for about 4 years, even before I had a digital camera (for internet access).

No matter where I am staying, on-site or off-site, I lock up my laptop when I leave the room. Locking it up is a simple matter of finding something in the room that is bolted down and wrapping a laptop security cord around it.

In the Disney Values and Moderates, there are wire rack shelves above the vanities. I weave the security cord through as many of the individual tines of that shelf as I can before locking it to the laptop, and it would take a set of heavy-duty bolt cutters 15 minutes to get through them all. It would take an extremely heavy set of bolt cutters to get through the steel security cable - not something you typically see a thief carrying around a Disney resort!

Remember to take an ethernet cable with you - all Disney resorts now offer wired internet access, $9.95 per 24-hour period (you don't have to enable it for the duration of your stay, you can pick which days you want it to save a few bucks).

Thank You every one. I was going to take it but did have some thoughts of not taking. Now I know for sure that I am going to take it. Thanks everyone. Now I when I go home I have to dust it off and charge it because I have only three days left :cool1:
