At Pop Century, I don't think the in-room safes will hold a laptop, I will have no car for safe storage.

Should I have worries about leaving a laptop bag in my room?

Tia

Hi Tia,

If you do a search there have been several threads on this in the last few weeks.

People have said they have locked it in their suitcase, locked it attached to something in the room, or left it out in the open....depends on your personal preference, I guess. But it will definitely not fit in the safe.

hubby has taken his on every trip....leaves it right out on the table...no problems so far..

I dont know if its safe...but we left ours at POFQ last year with no problems and play on doing the same at POP in TWENTY TWO DAYS :cool1:

I thought I read laptop would fit leaned on side, or is this just GF? Not comfortable w/ leaving it out....

Yeah, pretty safe. I usually just leave it on the desk (if there's one) or on the nightstand shelf. I even leave the phone cord sticking to the dataport. 5 trips so far last year and not once have I seen it even moved. Housekeeping just cleans around it.

If you are worried, you can get a cable lock for the laptop. It's not that expensive and you tie it around an immovable object.

I'm glad someone asked, I thought that my laptop would fit in the safe at POP no problem! I guess I'll have to lock mine up or keep it in the car :confused3

I'm sure you can ask to have the front desk store it for you while you are out of the room. It does have the inconvience of having to make a stop at the desk twice (or more) daily, but I'd rather do that than have mine swiped. It's not the cost of replacing the hardware as much as the time to replace the system and software as well as any data lost (i.e; pics, spreadsheets, etc.)

If you're concerned about your laptop, you can buy one of these kensington laptop locks for about 30 dollars, most laptops have a slot for it with a little icon of a lock with a K inside. You can wrap the cord around something stable in the room and you should be safe! I hope this helps.

tricia.

I kept mine out in the open at BCV and had no problems. Usually take it to other (non-world) hotels and leave it out as well with no problems.

DH always brings his and just leaves it out on the table. Never been touched. Of course, if it were, it is work property and they'd just replace it the next day--know this from experience when it was stolen out of his truck while visiting a client. He backs everything up to one of those little pop-in pen type hard drive things, so he wouldn't even lose data.

We left ours out in the open, to no ill effect. I tried to talk Tim into locking it in the safe, or at least hiding it, but he said it would be fine. I think we tempted fate...

If you can't put it in the safe, I would either hide it, or lock it in the lugage.

We've taken our the last couple years and left it plugged in out in the open. We probably should have thought about this, but didn't.

We've never run into any problems though.

It WILL fit in the safe at POP century. We stayed there last year and it fit absolutely no problem, we have a Dell laptop. We locked it up every day when we went to the parks.

last july i left my brand new laptop sitting on top of the table in our room at the WL with our extra camera and bags. nothing was ever moved. in fact Mousekeeping i think made it a point not to even try to clean the table so it would not seem if anything had been touched. on our next trip i will do the same thing. just leave it out on the table and really not worry about it

Take ours and always leave out and have never had any problem. We even leave loose change on the desk (sometimes several $$ worth) and never bothered. I think the folks Disney hires are pretty good people. :sunny:
