Laptop question

okay guys--i am sooo sorry for all of the computer questions tonight--i dont know what is going on or if im just noticing more!
On my laptop, i dont have an external mouse, i just have the fingerpad thing...well all of a sudden, i cant "double click" using the fingerpad..it wont highlight things or anything...i know it was earlier because thats what i usually do..It is still letting me move the cursor around, just not when i click..how do i fix this!? ahhhh

If you're unable to access anything, you'll need to plug a USB driven mouse into the port. After that, you should be able to access the control panel and change the settings for the mouse click speed. If it still isn't working after that, I can't help you!

what should i check for in the control panel? i can still use the fingerpad to move the cursor, just not to click on things

i went to control panel , and clicked on "mouse" then a "mouse properties" box comes up--i clicked settings then there was a new screen that came up..i just c licked on "tapping" and enabled it--
have no clue how it got unclicked, but its working now!
