Ok so I'm hopefully getting a laptop for my birthday which is in 12 days, and my parents have asked me to choose one. Does anyone have an idea of what a suitable laptop would be for a teenage girl, good for homework, gaming, msn/im, internet. anything along those lines. im not worried about the brand. i just need a decent laptop!
If you know any laptops, websites, links, please post them! i need help! im no good at this sort of thing!
Thankyouuuu! :D

I have an IBM Z60m but thats because my dad works for IBM and gets a discount. A lot of new laptops now have built in webcams, but that really doesnt make much of a difference. If I was you I would look for the biggest screen and how long the battery lasts for the cheapest price.

My sister and I both have Dell inspirons. Mine is quite better than hers storage-wise, but she doesn't know that! It works well for browsing the internet and homework. The downside is that it doesn't come preprogrammed with Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel so you'll have to add that software yourself. It does have lower quality equivalents which work for creating text documents (Works), spreadsheets, and presentations that will transfer to higher quality Microsoft programs. However, you cannot transfer down editions. Like if you install Microsoft Office 2007, you won't be able to transfer documents via flash drive to a computer with Microsoft Office 2005 without reformatting it. Our school has Microsoft 2005 and it is a pain.

I really don't know much about computers other than Dell and Mac. I honestly don't recommend a macbook considering what you'll be using it for. I'd recommend a macbook to someone who needs a lot of space for video editting, design programs, etc. They're handy, fast-working computers, but are very expensive and have unnecessary space and functions for your intended purpose.

Thanks! (: I'm not going to worry too much about trying to find one with word/powerpoint etc. because i think my parents mentioned getting a package which will install them on.

I have the Dell inspiron 1526
It works perfectly.
I IM,do homework, go online and a lot more with it.
I think it's a great laptop!

I had acer and hated it.
I now have a Toshiba(its so much better).
The speed is great!!!

I have an Inspiron 1525, I hate it.
It's broken about a billion times and I haven't had it a year. I'm about send it to dell again to get it fixed.

It shouldnt really matter what kind you get because you aren't in college.

I have an HP, and its a decent computer. I'm hoping in the next year or 2 I want to buy an Apple, or maybe a Dell. Who knows what is going to come out between now and then!

If she thinks she'd like to have the same one into college, then it does matter. She'll need something durable.

In otherwords, not a Dell.

Thanks for youree help guys. I've decided to go for a Dell Inspiron 1545 in red. :D

It goes completely against what you guys have said but i will probably be getting a ne wone by the time i to uni or college. I hoping its going to be better than the 1525. "/
