Laptop battery causing keyboard problem?

I have a Sony Vaio laptop, bought in November, so about 3 months old. Several weeks ago, I noticed that when typing, some of the characters were randomly not showing up. At first I thought it was my careless typing, but soon realized it was not. I was hitting keys, but sometimes the character wouldn't show. I contacted support, and they sent me a list of things to try (many of which I didn't know how to do). I haven't had time yet to contact them again about it.

Today, I turn on the laptop to find a battery error message, something along the lines of "The battery is not installed properly or may not be compatible with your computer. Try reinstalling the battery." I did this, but kept getting the same message. So I took the battery out. Now, I suddenly notice that the keyboard issue is gone! In this whole post, it hasn't missed a character, while typically it skips 1-3 per line of text.

So my question is, could a faulty battery cause a keyboard issue? I wanted to get some opinions before I contact service again and request a new battery. Thank you!!

I know if the battery is overheating at all it can cause a whole host of problems (it did with my old Dell laptop). Have you noticed if the laptop seems unnaturally warm while you're using it with the battery installed?

I haven't really noticed that it was hot, but then again, it's never actually on my lap...

It could be the battery, it could also be the board. You need to contact SONY and get it sent in for diagnostics and repair.
