Hi,

We are leaving for OKW :cheer2: :cheer2: tomorrow. My son wants to bring his 17" laptop w/him. I think it will be to small for the room safe. Any suggestions on where he could leave it? Can it be taken to the check in desk or to concierge for safe keeping when we are out at the parks?

I've never had a problem leaving mine unsecured in the room. I just put it away in my laptop bag and place it in the closet.
I don't have rose colored glasses in when it comes to WDW, and I know bad things can happen anywhere, but I have never had a issue with the housekeeping staff going through or taking personal effects.

I agree- I always leave my laptop on the table - unlocked. Perhaps I'm too trusting, but I even do that on housekeeping days. It is insured thru my homeowners policy and I'm confident it will always be there every time I enter the villa.

The room safes are not larger enough for a laptop. Some have used laptop locks, some "hide" the laptop in the room someplace and some may even take it to the front desk for "safe"- keeping.

Good luck with your decision!

I just got back from OKW. I used a cable lock to secure the laptop to the headboard of the bed in the master bedroom. DH always leaves his out, but then his is a company computer, not ours. ;)

I was also on the first floor and have heard a couple of stories about break-ins and decided it was better to be safe than sorry. ::yes::

I also left mine out on the table - I just neglected to take my cable lock, but then again, I've forgotten my cable lock on just about every vacation, including on DCL.

I use a cable lock. I would at least put it in a suitcase if you don't have a lock.

never had anything come up missing in our room even when i forgot some cash on the nightstand. We had 1st floor OKW and left laptop on the table with no problems at all.

Now when we stayed at ASM we had one credit card taken and used in Orlando. I dont know if mousekeeper took it or is fell out of my wallet somewhere along the way but it is what it is.

So in conclusion laptop out in the room, good - leaving credit cards out, bad - leaving cash on the nightstand, well people say God takes care of fools and drunks, wonder which one I am. :rotfl:

We always have 2 laptops with us, and DH usually leaves his out all night, but puts it in the computer bag when we leave for the day... No locks or thoughts of them. We too have left cash out. I figure locks aren't going to stop a determined crimnal anyway.
