First timer to DL and you need to use your hard plastic tickets for rides. Is it a good idea to buy lanyards for my family? I'm concerned my 7 yo will lose hers and/or we will lose them on rides. How do you guys carry around your cards?

You do not need your tickets to ride rides. You will only need them to get a FP from the machine (and you could do this for your daughter). Not all rides have FP, so you won't need to do this all the time. When you redeem your FP, you will scan your ticket at the reader or a CM will scan your ticket. Some parents are carrying all the tickets in a lanyard or a Witz case (very handy - check Amazon.com). Others are using one lanyard per family member and either letting each person wear his/her own lanyard (probably better for older kids) or wearing all the lanyards, then scanning them for each child (since grown ups can wear their own lanyard). Scanners can scan the bar code through the plastic, so you don't need to remove the FP to redeem. Some posters have reported that CMs want each person to scan for themselves. In that case, you could put each child's lanyard on them (different color for each kid makes it easy to sort) before getting in line, then take the lanyards back after the last scan. (Some rides scan once, some twice.)

Some CMs have been sticklers about it, but I think that was because the changes in practice were new. From what we've seen, when it is obvious that the child in question is quite young or disabled, the CMs allow the parent to scan for him/her. But it can cause problems when one parent tries to scan for an entire group (and isn't ready and organized when it is time to scan), and slows down the whole ride line. This has happened a few times -- so frustrating.

You can get a pin starter kit that includes a lanyard. That way it looks pretty and she might want to wear it more!

I always put them all in my wallet. That the only thing that lets me know exactly where everyones are.

Usually my DH holds all the tickets and fastpasses in his wallet. That way we know they are safe and sound, and i don't worry about anyone loosing theirs.

Don`t use lanyards with plastic holders with plastic eyelets where it attaches to the strap like they sell at the resort. They break off . My Grandson lost his who knows where in the park. He had his roomkey in it but luckily not his admission ticket

Lanyards are a must! You can find some really different ones on Amazon. They're festive and handy, plus it's fun to decorate them with pins, even if you don't collect. Lanyards keep your Fastpasses handy and dry, as well as your paper park ticket. Also I put my Disney Gift Card with spending money for the day in the plastic! Have fun!

Loved using the lanyards, for tickets, FPs and pins... Have already bought my kids some for the next trip from Hot Topic...

You can hold her ticket for her if you're concerned about her losing it. If you buy lanyards for everyone be prepared to shell out some cash for pins! No doubt, they will see lots of people wearing their lanyards full of pins and want pins of their own :)
