I've noticed some people talking about lanyards. What is it that you wear around your neck? Do the room keys or tickets have holes in them? I've never been to WDW so I'm not sure this.
Thanks,

Hi! WELCOME TO THE DIS!! You're gonna love it here!

The lanyards are mostly used to hold pins.

The room cards and tickets do not have holes in them. I wouldn't recommend punching a hole in it either. Especially because you have to put your ticket in a machine to get in the park and to get a FastPass. Also, it would be a pain to take your room key off every time you want to make a purchase. If you are using it for that.

Disney pins on your lanyards can be traded with other pin traders and with CMs. CM will always trade with you for whatever you have on their lanyard as long as the pin you have is a Disney pin. Some CMs have a certain color of lanyard meaning they only trade with kids.

I bought random pins in lots of 5 or 6 from e-bay last year and we used those to trade for ones that we really wanted. I have done the same for this year.

There are basically two types of lanyards--a wide one meant for pins and one with a skinny cord and a plastic zipper pouch meant to hold park tickets, fastpasses, and room keys. I have the second kind--one from DLR that they had especially for their AP holders, but they have others too. I assume that WDW has similar ones. I personally don't like the pin lanyards--the wide cord irritates the skin on my neck, but the skinny cord is no problem. I find that having my DLR AP in the lanyard is very convenient. I don't have to dig it out of my wallet every time I want a FP, or park hop, or use it for a discount.
